Has anyone redone drywall recently or know about costs?
Our LR has one wall that's warped, with a long crack. The whole length of the wall needs to be replaced. It's about 16 feet long. We also want to have moulding put up around the whole room, and have the new sheetrock painted to go with the other three walls.
The guy who did our bathroom said it would be about $4k, which sounds high. I know drywall and spackle, etc. are not overly expensive, and my dad thinks it's a 1-2 day job. We think the contractor misunderstood what we wanted to do (maybe he thinks we want solid gold sheetrock? ) but we really don't know.

um, that sounds like alot!
FH and I moved a wall in our house - we framed and sheetrocked it ourself - we are going to have someone come in to tape and spackle- we also put recessed lighting in the whole downstairs, which means resheetrocking the whole ceiling, and FFIL said $1K would probably be the price for the whole thing.

Thanks Meaghan- I was thinking that $1K was probably more like it- I also got anxious because this same contractor quoted us $5500 and 1 week for our bathroom, and it ended up being $7500 and 11 days. Not his fault- there were so many leaks and plumbing and electrical issues when they opened the walls- but I now know to tack on a little more money and time to these projects, which made the $4k price tag seem even more ridiculous.
