Has anyone taken Clomid for luteal phase defect?
Saw a new Dr who thinks this may be the reason for my recurrent pregnancy loss. Anyone have experience with this? TIA

Re: Has anyone taken Clomid for luteal phase defect?
I was diagnosed by my ob/gyn with LPD. She put me on 50mg of Clomid for two months. For me, obviously, it didn't work. I didn't ovulate one month and the other month, my temps were all over the place the entire month.
The RE I just saw on Monday feels that a diagnosis of LPD is not very helpful because it doesn't really describe what the problem is - that it's a catch-all term. I've read though that clomid is usually the first step in trying to treat a LPD.
Not sure that's much help Good luck!!

Thanks. I do ovulate on my own but he thinks I may not be maturing the egg enough? this contribuites to an inadequate lining which hinders implantation is the way I understand it. I am doing some diagnostic testing before going on it so I guess I'll see. thanks again.

I was ovulating on my own...until I took the clomid. go figure.
I have a friend who had a similar situation as yours - she took Clomid (I think the 150mg dose), was monitored VERY closely and then given the HCG shot to get her to ovulate on time, when the folicles looked ready.

Re: Has anyone taken Clomid for luteal phase defect?
I was prescribed Clomid with progesterone supplements for LPD. We did it for 6 cycles with no results. Now we are trying a few cycles with just the progesterone to see what happens.

Did your friend get PG?

Were you ovulating? Or did you have a problem with m/c?

She did eventually (actually she just had her baby a few weeks ago) but not on the clomid. she ended up doing IVF.
