Has anyone taken their DC to a Gastro internist Dtr?
DD is 19 months and continues to have severe constipation no matter what she eats.
I also give her little tummy's laxative each day and her stool is still hard. I've also gone days with just giving her fruit and veggies in hopes of softening her bowel movement and its always painful for her to pass. She also has fissures so passing her stool is very painful and i just feel so bad. She cries "Mommy ca ca ca ca " and ill usually comfort her till she goes or give her a baby suppository - but i can't always resort to this.
My peditrician said to change her diet, give her lots of fruits, veggies, fiber, prune juice - I've literally tried it all. She also said some children are just prone to constipation and its because of their digestive system which leaves her stool so dry and hard.
This poor child cannot continue like this and take laxative every single day - I was just wondering if any mommies have taken their DC to see a gastro doctor because of a problem like this. Im wondering if there is more that I could do - or if their is another problem causing this....
Looking for some feedback. TIA!

Re: Has anyone taken their DC to a Gastro internist Dtr?
We took our DD to a pediatric gastro doctor when I felt her reflux wasn't being adequately controlled by her pediatrician. We were VERY happy with Dr. Kessler in Babylon =)
I say...if you have the insurance, go...what the heck. Maybe he has another idea or has input that may help.
Good luck. Nicole

Don't have any doctor's recommendations, but I would definitely take her if I were you. I know two people who have had Hirschsprung's disease as babies, which sounds similar to the symptoms your little girl is displaying
Hirschsprung's disease
Nowadays they make a tiny incision to remove the bit of the intestine that is defective - it's a relatively easy procedure. Hope that helps and your DD finds some relief!
