Has anyone visited New Orleans with kids?
Thinking of going there early October, and wondering if taking the kids would be a bad idea.

We wanted to take the boys to a Saints Game, hence why we would go there. If its a quick in and out, maybe in a weekend?

I went for work and it's not really a place for kids.

I only partially agree with pps. Obviously don't take them along bourbon street or out late at night but you wouldn't do that anyway no matter what city you're in.
They have great restaurants, plantation tours, Jackson square and the street entertainers, Audubon zoo is huge, Audubon aquarium, you could ride a streetcar and like you said a saints game.
Edit. **Louisiana childrens museum

I agree we this 100% there is a lot of history and culture in the city for kids to see. Not everything revolves around bourbon street.
Also mardi gras world is cool for kids, you can see how all the floats are made for the parades and even go on one

I live in NOLA, and it's very family friendly. Obviously don't go on Bourbon Street at night with them.
You can go to The Zoo Aquarium City Park Children's Museum French Quarter is family friendly. Ride the street car up St Charles St or Canal to get into the Quarter. Walk up and down Magazine Street in Uptown and get some snoballs or delicious food. Mardi Gras World WW2 Museum Walking ghost tour (not scary, just A LOT of great history)
If you have any questions FM me, I'd be more than happy to help

I agree about Bourbon Street. In fact, even though we were there with no kids we didn't do Bourbon Street at all. We walked on it once during the day just to see it and I found it gross. It smelled like vomit. To me, that is more for college kids. Not adults in their 30s and 40s. But what we did do revolved around upscale restaurants and bars, live music, art galleries, antique shops, etc. Nothing I'd do with kids. Even the walking tour we did of the city was great but I couldn't see a 4 or 5 year old enjoying it My DD would have been a nightmare on it. But again, I wasn't there with kids so I wasn't looking for that kind of stuff.
