Has anyone worked on a Master's Degree while being home with more than one child?
If so, how was your experience and what degree did you obtain?
TIA

Re: Has anyone worked on a Master's Degree while being home with more than one child?
I know my girlfriend did this. It took her a lot of time as she took her courses one at a time on weekends, where it would be an all day thing condensed into maybe 4 or 5 weeks. Sometimes she had to skip a semester because of other obligations.
She started after her second daughter was born, but I don't think she finished until her son was born.
I'm not 100% sure but I think her degree is in special ed or something along those lines. She works in autism.

I currently have a 2 year old and am working on a bachelors, which is hard in its self. I plan to have another one next year and then i'll be working on my masters in EDU. I would love to see the responses to this as well. Thanks for posting it.

Re: Has anyone worked on a Master's Degree while being home with more than one child?
I started my Masters (ELementary Education) when my first was 3m old. (we went, stroller and all into school to get my ID and register )
I completed my Masters 3yrs later when I was 8m preggo with my third.
It's absolutely possible. My main factors were: I was driven, passionate and very interested in what I was learning about. My husband and immediately family were very supportive and helpful with childcare, time I needed for homework, and anything that came up.
Just this summer (2yrs later), I got my Special Ed certification, and plan to go back for more (either bilingual or ESL).
I really didnt take too many classes at once (2 at most), I took a semester off when one of them was born (Although I asked if I could do the work from home, they suggested not to)...
Dont let anyone else tell you what's possible or impossible. If you want to do it, you can do it !

Same here....I am lucky to have a great support system. I am also working at night as a waitress to make some extra money. Everyone said it was going to be hard and it is, but its temporary. I want to work hard now to get where I want to be in the end. For myself and my family......its a means to an end ya know!

Re: Has anyone worked on a Master's Degree while being home with more than one child?
I remember Liza doing it during Morning sickness so anything is possible I guess. I finished one yr prior to dd but I can honestly say I dont think I could have done my masters while have gillian. They made us do hospital internships plus I worked ft and went to class ft. I also graduated in 2 yrs. Is it possible for you to split up classes and internships? If they were seperated I would think it might be doable. What degree are you looking to complete?

Definitely talk to Anna. She did this with 2 children, and I believe towards the end, 3.

I am not working on my masters, so a little different, but I am working on my bachelors AND work F/T. It's hard, but possible.

Re: Has anyone worked on a Master's Degree while being home with more than one child?
I have been working on a master's and I work part time and care for DD the rest of the time. It has been tough but the support of my DH and my parents has made it possible.
I will say that I plan to wait until I am finished before having another child. I don't think it is IMpossible but I think two kids would make it harder.
