Has anyone's cat done this?
We just got back from a week's vacation and while we were away, my sister in law came in every day to take care of our cat. We got home and all was fine-she was a little stand offish at first but that's nothing unsual after we've been away for a while. My SIL said she had no problems with her whatsover. Well, 2 days after being home,(yesterday) she peed on our couch! She has NEVER done this- we got her from a shelter at 2 months old and she used the literbox from day one. I am nervous that she maybe has a UTI, but she has not repeated this. She is now using her box again. I cleaned the couch with an enzyme cleaner to avoid a repeat. It seems to have been a one shot deal but I am nervous. I have read that sometimes cats will urinate on your bed or another personal space to show that they are mad at you for going away. Has anyone ever heard of this? Should I take her to the vet anyway? TIA!

Re: Has anyone's cat done this?
Do take her to the vet just to be on the safe side, but we had this problem last year with our adult cat when we moved. It was not a UTI and I tried everything - spraying to deter him from doing it, putting his food where he peed, etc., but he still did it. We even got meds from the vet to calm him down and they made him nasty. Eventually we just punished him by putting him out in our converted garage (that has a couch, so no cruelty involved) with his litter tray. I don't know if that's what worked, but he just suddenly stopped.
It could definitely be a behavior problem to show she is annoyed with you, but get her checked by the vet to rule out an infection.
I know it's not fun, but the Feliway worked on the areas he "marked"

Re: Has anyone's cat done this?
Thank you! I will get her checked but I think it probably is behavioral. She has been know to hold grudges! The smell is so bad! It saturated the throw pillow and the seat cushion-the enzyme cleaner worked somewhat but I can still smell the urine. They say it can take up to 2 weeks for it to dry completely and for the odor to be completely gone. I'll try the Felaway too! Thanks again!
