Has anyone's DC had a viral rash? What does this look like to you?
When the doc first saw Riley, it was on her back and she figured it was eczema. But as the days have wore on, it's spread to her c r otch area, and legs and arms. It's almost like it's underneath the skin, trying to come out. has your DC ever broken out like this?
They are saying it's viral, because she had a fever for a few days and benadryl didn't make a difference. But she's also on antibiotics for ear infection...
Any experiences with this? She's had it since Wednesday and she's been fever free since then....
TIA!

DD has had something like that but with no fever and I thought it was an allergy to something. It was on her face, belly and back the worst. Someone told me it looked like prickly heat

DS had something like that once......he had been sick with a little cold a few days before. Ped said it was the virus "leaving" the body (i think, or something like that) Benadryl did nothing....it lasted a few days!

Sarah had something similar this week and they said it was an allergic reaction to penicillin.
On Monday we went in and the rash was really slight, a few pinpricks on her torso. They said it was a virus and would get worse the next day. Tuesday she woke up covered head to toe and I just assumed it was the worse rash, but Wednesday I brought her in and they said it was a drug allergy rash. They said it usually happens at the end of the course of treatment. Her last dose was Tuesday night, by Thursday she was already improving and today she is barely itchy and the red is really fading.

YES, it totally looks like a viral rash that Jordan had.

Thanks everyone! Looks like it's going away, thank God. Definitely viral. I was just confused because she's been fever-free since Wednesday and it only got worse, but I guess it is because the virus is leaving her body.
What annoys me is, the ped ended up changing her antibiotics for her ear infection because of this fever. When it probably only was a virus..ugh.

DD has had this a couple of times. Last time it lasted about 2 weeks. The good thing is, she didnt seem bothered by it - it was just ugly.

Re: Has anyone's DC had a viral rash? What does this look like to you?
my dd had something similiar on her chest and it was viral and it lasted about 10 days. im pretty sure the dr said this is something that happens after the fever breaks but i dont remember so that would explain it getting worse after the fever stopped
i agree with melissa.. i was on penicillin and thats what my rash looked like and i was having an allergic reaction to the meds. mind you the rash happend 6 days after i completed the antibiotics. and yes this is still possible

i was just going to ask this. when i was a teen, i had a VERY similar rash all over and it was a reaction to penicillin! no more antibiotics in that family for me
i hope she feels better! if its any comfort, the rash did not bother me at all, just looked bad

Fever for a few days followed by a rash may be Roseola-my DD had a probably case 3 weeks ago.
Honestly, that rash does not look like hers did though, hers was bigger red spots, not raised, not itchy and only lasted a day or two.
That looks like more of an allergic reaction rash too me-I got a rash that looked similar from Zythromax.

It does look like when Damien had Scarlett Fever. The sun will make it look worse. It should be gone in a couple of days.

Re: Has anyone's DC had a viral rash? What does this look like to you?
Riley was on Amox something or other (not amoxicillin, but the next one up with all these abbreviations) when this happened. I asked the doc if she thought it was a reaction to the meds and she said no. It started on her back first, it was pretty mild, and it was followed with dry skin. So she thought it was eczema.
Then it started to spread- they hadn't seen it, but they told me to try a 1/4 tsp of benadryl and see if it clears up and it didn't. So they're calling it viral.
But then we ended up starting her on a new medication because of her fever not going away since she had her ear infection. So who the hell knows exactly what it's from?
My guess is, she had the ear infection but the fever that lasted for a few days had to be viral. But the doctor chose to switch her meds because it was past the 72 hours since she was started on them, and the fever hadn't broke yet.
