Has anyones DD had to have a VCUG or renal Sonogram?
DD has to go in a couple of weeks and from what I'm reading online the VCUG is not going to be fun.

Re: Has anyones DD had to have a VCUG or renal Sonogram?
I did.. She was 8m I think?
Waiting was the hardest part. I wanted her hungry for the cath part. So we kept walking around with her. Nurses were playing with her etc.
First the sonogram. Which was easy as pie. She didnt care at all. The screen grabbed her attention then she tried to move the paddle.
Straight to the Cath VCUG part. They had us strip her put her on the table, weigh down her arms and legs with sand bag type things. The doc came in.
3 tries and she was crying the whole time. We both had one arm a piece. The nurse moved aside a little and it went straight in.
We gave her a bottle then and while it was in she didnt care, while they filled it up, she didnt care, while they took it out, no care in the world.
THEN we had to wait.. again
This time we had to wait for her to pee
This took FOREVER!!! they poured water on her pee pee, tried to massage the area.. nothing.
When she FINALLY peed it was like a water fountain of liquid. It got everywhere.
***** I wish I had known to bring a towel!
We dried her off the best we could with the paper towels and wipes, re-dressed her and we were gone.
Honestly as long as they can get it in quickly, its not so bad if you can soothe her. Since AJ was STARVING by then she was totally focused on food so I think that helped us. I fed her about a half hour-forty-five minutes before we got there. Not a full bottle but enough to get her by.
Good Luck!
Hey I found my link when I posted my experience her on LIF linky to the past haha

yup, DD had it at 13 months. pretty much same experience as above...waiting for her to empty her bladder was the worst part b/c she had to lay on table the whole time. once it was over she was right back to herself though. good luck
