Has anything made you a little teary/emotional today?
This got me. I read it somewhere and sent it to my mom and dad:
''It turns out that siblings of people with disabilities have an extra dimension, compassion and tolerance for people, a way of looking at the world,'' she says. ''They see beyond the appearance of the person, like skin color, and go to the heart of the person.''

No but as someone who has worked with the disabled, I'd say that quote is dead on.

Any time I rad about Katie Flynn I start to cry, no matter how many times i read about her.
Aslo - I totally agree with that quote. DH's sister is disabled and he is truely a special person because of it.

my ongoing situation with a student in my class and his family.... long sad story.... CPS is now getting involved....
teaching is WAY more than actually teaching subjects.... it can be so emotionally draining... this particular situation is affecting me to the point that I am having dreams about it... I feel so bad for these kids...

Thank you for posting that...DH's sister is mentally retarded and lives in a group home and he is one of the most open minded, compassionate people I know.
