Has this ever happened to your breast pump? mildew? yuck!

just wondering and i am so mad Chat Icon i have the medela pump in style and the air tubes have green mildew in them! now i steam clean and all that but that probably made it worse. there is no way to clean it out. just wondering if this ever happened to anyone's pump. guess i'll have to order the tubes online.

Do you keep the pump running with the tubes once you are done pumping?

You should let it run with just the tubes for about 2 more minutes or so. Especially if you see condensation in the tubes.

thanks smdl for that suggestion! never would have thought of that! i was wondering how i could dry them out. i just wound up ordering new tubes 2 seconds ago!

I do this, too (the manual suggested it, I would never have known on my own, of course!). I notice condensation everytime on one particular side now -- I wonder if there's something I can do to avoid it ..?

I let mine run (that was already suggested though).

How did you order the replacements? I need to do that.

I let mine run on the highest setting as well (until the letdown) - I also swing them around a bit to air dry to help it out a bit.

I still get the mildew though - If it's just in the plug in part - I have taken the cotton off a Q-tip and was able to clean it that way.

I have had it further down, so I will take a twist tie, fold it and stick it in and spin it around and that gets most and then a good hot water rinse through it.

oh i didn't see them at BRU!! maybe the one by me doesn't carry them though. i wound up googling them and ordering them from a site online for 4.25 each.
