Have an idea but need help

I am so not creative but I read about this idea in a magazine and so want to do it.

I want to put my children's footprints using non-toxic paint on a floor mat. Any ideas on the right materials to use? TIA~

I've only done it on regular cardstock. I bought water based non-toxic ink that you would use for stamping. Inked up her foot and pressed it on the paper.

did the magazine indicate what the floor mat was mad of?

if you're going to put it on an area rug, i would use a rug that is flat... "material-like". i would use acrylic paint mixed with fabric medium... fabric medium if found in the same place as acrylic paints at places like michaels/ac moore. then you would heat set.

if you're going to put it on more of a "rubber mat" i would also go with acrylic paint and then i would seal it with a sturdy sealant.

thank you so much! I really didn't know where to start. The magazine didn't give details- some mom was just saying that she made this for her parents and it was their favorite gift.
