I wouldn't. To me, that's an adult affair and I'd just leave my kid(s) with my folks or someone else I trust. I would take advantage of the invite and make it a night out for DH and I.

I went to one when DD was 5 months old. The wedding was in Cali, so keeping her home was not an option.

It really was fine. It was a small wedding. The ceremony was outdoors and while I was a BM DH and an old college friend of mine with a baby too managed to keep DD quiet during the ceremony. She slept through some of reception. We just took turns focusing on her. She wasn't walking yet, so she spent most of the time in her stroller. She was happy to be a part of it all.

Granted, a 5 month old is a lot different than an 11 month old. If you have the option, I would leave her home. IF its between not going to the wedding or brining her, I would bring her.

Re: have you been to a wedding with your baby(under a year old)

I've been to wedding where little babies under 1 have been there day and night ones. I can say from the outside, unless the baby was an infant/newborn, the parents didn't have a good time at all, one was always with the little one unless grandma is there to help. It's alot of work!

Personally, I agree with Bicosi, i wouldn't bring my kids to any wedding even if they were invited(my girls would do fine at a day wedding), Dh and I have 2 weddings coming up this year and are looking forward to the night out of drinking and dancingChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

is the wedding OOS? If you can't find a babysitter or it's OOS and still want to go then that's different-doable but be prepared. GL!Chat Icon

I was a bridesmaid & brought Maddie to the wedding at 5 mos post partum. My parents were there to help out.

I had a great time & Maddie slept most of the time.

eta. if given the option to leave her at home, it would have been easier but this was her aunt's wedding...and what the bride wants, she gets.

Chat Icon Chat Icon yes it is between not going or bringing her, lol, the whole family is going(MIL,SIL) so we can't leave her with any family members and I don't feel comfortable leaving her with a sitter, we don't have one and I wouldn't even know how to get one around here, plus they invited us with the baby they put a little note in the invitation. My DH really wants to go but he won't go without me , they are his longtime friends, I feel bad saying this ,but I'd rather not go with DD Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

WE brought ella to a wedding at 3 months, i was a bridesmaid. So DH had to get her dressed and ready in the morning. She actually slept the majority of the time.

the only pain in the neck, was having to pump.

Re: have you been to a wedding with your baby(under a year old)

I just posted pictures of my BIL's wedding where both of my children went. Andrew was the ring bearer, but we took Hannah along too b/c it was out of town and I didn't want to leave her behind. I had a lot of fun, but thankfully Hannah is an extremely good baby. She's only 7 months old, so she didn't do much -- just slept and ate and was held a lot.

I took advantage of familiy members that wanted to spend time with the kids to slip away and go to the ladies room, or ask the waitress to heat up a bottle.

If you could leave her home I would - but since you just said the whole family is going - I would bring her as long as your family will help you watch her if she wants to walk around or gets fussy.

Re: have you been to a wedding with your baby(under a year old)

I just had this dilema. The difference in my case is DD is 20mths and doesn't sleep just anywhere anymore. My cousin got married on Saturday but we wound up leaving her home and I'm glad we did. The biggest factor for me was the time. Cocktail hour started at 7pm so the wedding didn't end til midnight. I just couldn't see myself keeping DD up way past her bedtime which would have made her extremely cranky and therefore ruin any good time I would have had or leaving reallllllllllly early just to get her to bed at a decent hour.

We have the same issue

In July Sofia will be 7mts and I need to take her to a cousins wedding
if she isn't invited we aren't going bc the entire family is going and there is NO one to watch her.....

I thinl she will sleep and be so good
but if the bride says no :( then its no
