Have you ever bought a house and regret ever moving?
We may possibly be moving from a town and school district I know inside and out to a town and school district that I don't know much about.
I just keep hoping I won't regret it and will wish I stayed with what I knew.
Has anyone ever moved and later regretted it? I'd just love to hear stories...

Yup. I hate the house I'm in right now and wish I was still in the other one. I bought here for a better school district, but as it turns out the other house was a nicer neighborhood, and a quieter street/location.
I bought when the market was at its peak so now I have very little equity in my house so am stuck here for a very long time.

Re: Have you ever bought a house and regret ever moving?
To an extent.
We bought at the height of the market as well.
Our house is tiny. We have 1 bathroom in the house and no dining room.
If you listen to people who don't live in our district, you would think we come from an awful area.
It's hard to not be resentful when you see what people get nowadays for what we spent only a few years ago.
However, I try to ground myself with the reminder that we planned to stay here until DS is at least in middle school. He's not even 4 yet.
That is plenty of time for our financial situation to change, so maybe we can do those upgrades we want.
Or, for the market to turn around, allowing us to sell.
I also follow a couple of the LIF REAs on here and their stories overall keep me positive about the market for sellers. You better believe I will reach out to them if the time comes we want out of this place.
There are also people out there who would love to be in our situation, so that too keeps me grounded.

Re: Have you ever bought a house and regret ever moving?
Yes, at first I regretted evry second.I even wanted to back out at closing. I think it was because I was more "attached" to the house, and all the hard work we put in. I was comfortable at the old house, it was small, and cozy. I didnt like the neighborhood so much. My mortgage was almost paid off. I was scared about moving because it was a much bigger house, and worried about bigger bills. Now...I have been in my house since June and so glad we made the move. I LOVE my new house and my new neighbors. It was the best thing we did for us and the kids.

Re: Have you ever bought a house and regret ever moving?
We are considering leaving the city and moving to western Nassau. Something just tells me I should stay in the city where I will be happiest. It just is terrible because you can get so much more for less...despite the taxes. I have this fear that I will regret moving to Long Island on a full time basis. I'm a city girl so it is what I am acclimated to. I hope we make the right choice
