Have you ever lost a sentimental piece of jewelry?

When I was 16 my mom gave me a necklace that had been passed down from my great-grandmother. It was an opal necklace with diamonds around it. I thought it was the most beautiful necklace. Stupidly, I wore it to school one day and it fell off while I was walking there. I walked up and down the street looking for it and it never turned up. I can still remember walking into class in tears and my wonderful French teacher felt so awful that she let me skip class.

Yes, when I was in middle school I wore a pair of earrings my mom had bought from Mexico I beleive while on her honeymoon and I lost one of the hoops. They were sentimental to me b/c she gave them to me.

It is the most horrible feeling EVER!!!

Yes, I lost a beautiful pin that my Grandmother had from the 20's it was a piece of Art Deco Jewelry that had the same initials as mine.

It breaks my heart when I think about it.
I lost on 34th street in Manhattan.

Yes, it was from DH when we were dating. I lost it at work in cement. I was so upset for days.

Re: Have you ever lost a sentimental piece of jewelry?

When my grandmother died, my mother gave me her watch. It was beautiful, just beautiful. I wore it for a big interview I had with the Dept. of Justice in D.C., and I was really early for the interview so I walked around D.C. for a half-hour. At the end of my stroll I noticed it was missing... must have fallen off my wrist. I walked up and down those same blocks looking for it, but never found it Chat Icon

yes...i felt terrible when I stupidly wore the diamond studs that my father gave me for hs graduation while running freshman year at college. I ran into a branch or something and it knocked the earring right out of my ear and I couldn't find it!

Yes my mom bought me a really nice Movado for my 16th birthday. A few months later I was going into a bad part of the city and my "friend" told me I should take it off and put it in my purse. I was dumb and listened.

Went to this "friends" house after and when I got home and went to put on my watch it was gone. I confonted them and they denied it. Never spoke to the person or saw them ever again.

Also I lost one of my diamond studs DH had given me and that I wore on my wedding day. It went down the drain in the shower and by the time I realized it was missing from my ear it was too late Chat Icon

Re: Have you ever lost a sentimental piece of jewelry?

I didn't lose them but had them stolen.

1 - my mothers wedding ring that my father gave me when I was a teen. He had gotten it back from her when they got divorced. It was stolen from where I was living when I was 19.

2. - the piece I loved the most was a sapphire & pearl gold ring that my dad gave my mom before they got engaged. I found it after they got divorced. my mom let me have it (she is allergic to gold). My house was broken into when my daughter was a teen and it was stolen. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: I also lost a blue topaz heart earring from a set (earrings & pendant) that I got when I returned a wedding band that I had but never used when I was engaged previously. He passed away before we could get married.

Yes I lost one of the diamond heart earrings that my Dad gave me when I was a little girl. Dropped one down the drain. We took it apart and couldn't find it. It had such sentimental value. I always wished it would turn up and never did.

I recently realized I am missing an earring that was given to me by a great aunt who recently died. She gave them to a few years ago along with a pendant and it was a set she had for over 50 yearsChat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Have you ever lost a sentimental piece of jewelry?

I've only lost 1 thing in my whole life - a bracelet...and it was the first thing Rich ever bought me. Chat Icon

I was wearing it on prom night, and it must've snagged on my corsage or something. I was wearing it in pics taken at the prom, so it must've fallen off on the way home. I ripped apart the limo, called Crest Hollow for a week, but no one returned it. Chat Icon

I cried for days - i felt sooooooo bad - the only thing I could say was, "I never lose ANYTHING! I never lose anything!"

I lost the baby bracelet that my father bought me the day I was born. My mom had it made bigger for my 16th birthday...unfortunately I lost it not even a month later. Chat Icon

I lost my engagement ring a month and a half before my wedding while on my bachlorette party in Puerto Rico...THANK goodness for insurance - I wish I listened to DH and left it home - the replacement one is just not the same...
