Yes, once or twice. In both cases the service was extraordinarily bad like basically abandoning the table - no refills, no check, missed courses, having to ask someone to send them over, that type of thing.


ETA:
The above refers to tips, not the check. In those cases, I left something very very low so they got the point.


The one time I didn't pay anything was on Mother's Day a few years ago. We got no service what so ever except a beverage. Everyone around us was receiving course after course of their meal and we couldn't get a refill. We may have left $20 on the table in case the waiter ever came back but I can't say that with 100% certainty.

Yes once or twice if the service WAS REALLY BAD we left a bad tip

On the day of my JHS graduation. A bunch of us went out, sat there for hours and when the bill came most people didn't have enough $$ to cover their order. Poor woman put up with our crap for hours and got like 50 cents

A few Weeks ago we went out with friends to applebees for dessert. The teenagers behind us left the waitress a penny and two AA batteries (that were probably dead)

I could never stiff them, no matter how awful they were, but I've left a bad tip if their service was horrid.

I have left a bad tip for bad service. But I would never stiff someone.

only when I was a teenager and my friends and I went to the Diner and got crappy service.

ETA: we didn't stiff her, but left a BAD tip

we have left bad tips-- but we also leave really good tips.. We always leave what we feel is appropriate. If it's status quo, we leave 15 to 20%.

We had a horrible experience when we went out to celebrate my graduate school graduation. We didn't do anything big because it was 9 days before the wedding.

But, we went to the place where I had my bridal shower (really nice place that even does weddings).

the waitress was a COMPLETE WENCH.

We left her the coins that we got back as change.

She actually approached me with a $1 bill and told me that *I* probably needed it.

My mother spoke to the manager (who coordinated my shower) and he fired her. Apparantly every table she waited on complained about her.

ETS: we did stiff a waitress in NYC who gave us someone else's (much higher) check and refused to correct it. Right out the back door we went!

Never, but I've never gotten extraordinarily bad service. My bad tip is 15%.

I've never stiffed anyone, but I have a terrible tip twice. Completely deserved.

I have never stiffed anyone before. However last week we left a bad tip. The waitress we had has messed up our orders in the past and then blamed it on us (like we didn't know what we ordered). Last week she messed up DH's order and gave him something completely opposite of what he did order. She again blamed it on him. So her tip was not good.

As a young punk teen out with my friends - we had dinner at the Hard Rock. We thought we were so full of ourselves back then. We left a very generous tip, but we had piled all of our leftovers, plates, napkins, silverware and anything else we could find on the table so they had to sort through it all to find their tip. Once my friends wanted to leave the money in a glass of water but that one I did not let them do.

I did once.... the stupid waiter vanished and we waited over 20 min for him to come back with the check.. finally we just said "eff it" and left..

the worst experience of all times was at danfords - on our first anniversary what a disaster

we didnt leave a tip and get this the waiter who managed to ignore us all night ( no refills nothing ) and didnt even come over when dh was brought the wrong food ( by someone from the kitchen who was covered in some kind of blood) did chase us into the parking lot to ask why he didnt get a tip can you imagine?

danfords got a nice 3 page letter about how crappy 25 east has gotten how bad the service was and about the waiter from hell running us down in the parking lot and get this they never even responded.
i will never go there again.

No, we've never stiffed...but, there may have been an occasion or two where they got a really sh!tty tip.

I've left a bad tip before. I never leave less than 20% but if the service is horrible than we only leave $5.
