have you heard of Blackle.com? Less energy google?
It is the same as Google, but uses less energy because of the black screen! http://www.treehugger.com/files/2007/05/black_google_sa.php

That's a really interesting article. I have never heard of Blackle.com. But maybe now I will use it instead of Google!

I got an email about it yesterday from a friend but, I thought it was spam (it wasn't addressed to anyone) so I didnt look into it.
I'll check it out!

Re: have you heard of Blackle.com? Less energy google?
I did some quick research on this, and found that it does nothing if you have an LCD screen. The old tube monitors save energy, but not the newer monitors.
Plus, many people have extreme difficulty reading light letters on a black background. What good is saving a tiny bit of energy if you have to keep the screen on longer to try and read what's there? If you did a full-blown study with a wide spectrum of users, including those with problems reading white on black, it may turn out to use more energy in the long run.
Cute idea, though. Just not practical....
