have you heard of getting some kind of palsy while pg?
in the movie i watched last nite, the girl was in the hospital bed maybe 30 weeks pg and she was eating and the food was all over her. Her mom came in a screamed to the nurse thinking she was having a stroke! The nurse said that its possible to get some kind of palsy during pregnancy.
Has anyone heard of this? DO you know what causes this?
This girl that i work with was pg and late in her pregnancy her face changed, she actually had the look of having cerebral palsy..But now she had the baby and she looks the way she used to

I don't know if it's the same thing, but DH's aunt got Bell's or Ball's Palsy a year or so ago (she is not PG, she's in her 60's), they say it is stress-related. I don't know much about it at all, but did see her while it was affecting her, and it did look like she had a stroke in the face, she couldn't move a whole side, spoke like she'd been through a stroke, etc. But it eventually went away. I believe in her case, it was caused by massive stress.

I think Bell's Palsy affects one side of the face, paralyzing it. I have never heard of a PG woman getting it though, scary.

Re: have you heard of getting some kind of palsy while pg?
Bells' palsy can occur due to any multitude of reasons- stress, disease, anyhting that compresses the facial nerve (swelling). My mother had Bell's when she was first diagnosed with Lyme disease.
I suppose the stress and swelling of PG could bring on Bell's- especially from carrying multiples.
It's a purely temporary thing though. People hear "Palsy" and immediately think of cerebral palsy- which is entirely different.
