I was thinking of the same thing. I was going to hire someone but on a random Sunday I sometimes have 8 children here including my son and they occupy themselves. They usually just play in the playroom I have set up in the basement and they make up their own games, etc. I had a huge christening for my DS so I think I 'm doing a small family/close friends 1 yr old party at the house. I wouldn't hire someone for 8 kids. Not worth it IMO.

I have done all my children's parties at home. The last, was this past summer. I had 28 children and about 25 adults.

They usually range from 3-4 hours.

We just did my DD's 3rd birthday party at home in August.

She had a great time, had a few activities for the kids (a pin the tail on the donkey type game, a little monkey hunt, a pinata, a toss game).

It was all inside for the most part and it was a mad house but went pretty well.

when we were on LI we had one at my parent's b/c they have a big house. 1st hour was apps, drinks out, greeting everyone, food came out. Next hour to hour and a half was entertainment then we did cake, desserts, etc. 3 - 4 hours is perfect. Lots of food and everyone had fun. we plan on doing it next year at our new home
