Having in laws and BILs and SIL over and need burger advice!

Normally when I make burgers for the bbq I use one egg per pound of meat and about 1/2 cup breadcrumbs. Now, my mom is telling me that she just made them w.out egg and breadcrumb....and they came out fantastic. What she did was, instead of use all sirloim, she used one pound sirloin, one pound chuck. I can't picture making it w/out the stuff I always use and don't want it to come out bad...I always chop up garlic and add a dash of bbq sauce...but she's telling me she made it like this with just salt and pepper and they were awesome! Can you corroborate?! LOL!

I've never made burgers with anything else in them besides beef (except for seasonings)

I prefer virgin burgers -- good meat and that's it.

I put out all the fixins - lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, cheese - and let everyone dress them up however they like. I don't like stuff IN the hamburger, seems like meatloaf to me.

LOL...I love my meatloaf. I think all this time I've been making round little meatloaves.

The only way I've ever made burgers is with just meat... the reason she liked it with the chuck is that it tends to be a little more fatty which of course will add to the flavor, where the sirloin is leaner w/ less fat.

I've never heard of adding egg/breadcrumbs to burgers -- I thought that was a meatloaf/meatball thing.

I add a tiny bit of worsterchire sauce to my burgers, and salt & pepper. Not enough to make them too flavorful, but just to add a little kick.

Personally I've gone to some BBQs where people go overboard with the seasonings/extras inside of the burgers and if I had the choice I'd rather a plain burger that I could add stuff to.

I'm having a bbq on sunday for my daughter's christening and I'll have lettuce, tomatoe, onion, pickles, cheese, sauteed mushrooms and sauteed onions for people to add on as they wish. My family loves a good burger.

Strictly beef person here too. I usually use 85% lean.

I usually don't add anything crazy to my burgers. i buy the lean brand and add s/p and maybe some worchester sauce. I love a good old beef burger. I add eggs, cheese breadcrumbs, etc., when i make meatballs or a meatloaf.

I used to add onion soup mix to mine if I was making it from scratch. To be honest, the best hamburgers that I have had are from newbridge farms in Levittown I think, they are so moist.

When I make burgers I just add Worchteshire Sauce, grill seasoning, shallots and garlic (I usually brown the shallots and garlic up first)

We had a huge bbq this weekend and everyone raved about them.

If I want to do something "gourmet" I may add in some blue cheese, or a handful of shredded mozz or cheddar cheese.
