Having one bathroom
We have only one bathroom and there are 5 of us. I have a hard time being in the shower (its not a see through curtain) and having one of my stepkids come in to pee if they have to. People tell me I'm harsh to make them wait but its not like they are potty training or anything. I just don't think its appropriate for them to come in while I'm naked in the shower. Am I overreacting or do you guys feel this way too? I really need a second bathroom!!

Re: Having one bathroom
I don't think you are being harsh at all. I don't like ANYONE coming into the bathroom while I'm showering. It's the 10 minutes of peace I have all freaking day. I don't know how old they are, but if they are little, give them a warning and then lock the door when you go in. If they are older, they need to hold it just like every other person does.

Re: Having one bathroom
although we've always had more than one bathroom SD got in the habit of using our bathroom in our bedroom in our old house. For some reason she never wanted to shower or go to the bathroom in the other one which was right next to her room. It was very annoying. I can understand why you don't want anyone in there with you. I think you're right! You need another bathroom!!!

Re: Having one bathroom
My SK used to do this when they were younger. Even if I gave them a warning that I was going in the shower, there was always a little knock and whining that "I have to peeeeeeeeeee" As they got older, I was a little stricter but kids are kids, they don't understand and it seems like as soon as the shower goes on they just automatically have to go...so funny. Well, I know you don't think it's funny but..... you know what I mean. They DID grow out of it. How old are they?

Re: Having one bathroom
When I only had one bathroom I would just make sure no-one needed to go before I showered... I don't ever remember having a problem......I guess I was lucky,or maybe it was just b/c the kids were older.......either way, once I was in there, the door was locked!!! no visitors allowed

that is exactely what happens. no one is in the bathroom for hours before i get in the shower and then instantly they need to pee. ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHH . its my two stepdaughters 10 and 8. my stepson doesn't bother me but i think he's as grossed out about coming in while i'm in there as i am about them coming in. he's 13.
