having trouble again with foods for my 1 year old need creative ideas or ideas of what to feed my picky child
i had eliminated baby food from my sons diet about 2 weeks ago and then he became super picky and wont eat anything. can you please suggest whats a good start from baby food to table food. michael loves his milk and i try to feed him before a bottle but sometime have to give in and give a bottle and try to feed him food after.
this is what he eats for me
breakfast waffles with cut up fruit baby oatmeal pancakes refuses eggs bread cheerios
lunch cut up meatballs veggie melody (cut up carrots, peas, string beans and corn) apple sauce yogurt with the chill taken out of it
snacks yogurt melts cut up cantalop cut up pears strawberries some times rice cakes gerber puffs pirate bootie cookies
dinner ? whatever i can mix from above sometimes a 1/2 jar and try to give him either chicken which he spits out or some of whatever we are eatting.
hates avocado too
thanks. so frustrated with food choices. thanks

I don't have much advice, just hugs! My DD and your son should get together, cause she eats about the same thing. She loves my meatloaf, stir fry, lasagna....anything with "flavor"
I am starting to line the floor with old newspapers, because if she doesn't approve it lands on the floor

Something that Lucas loves that we introduces when he went on solids....
Apple Pie
Yogurt Applesauce ground up cheerios cinnamon
Mix together and serve...he loves it!
Have you tried:
Pastina with chicken broth *add shredded chicken to it once he takes to it
Grilled cheese (we started out very tiny) French toast Pasta with sauce

Try cheese in the eggs. I also give DS eggs w/ fruit (baby jars) and he devours it.
He also like eggs w/ pastina and cheese w/ a little milk. I throw it in the pan and it comes out like a creamy mac and cheese. Add a pinch of salt too.

eggs and cheese is a good bet, and also try different types of eggs. DD loved omelets forever and then one day just was over them. i made her a hard boiled egg, sliced it and started calling them her eggie o's - she eats them up...
early on i also noticed she would eat more depending the way i cut things (size of pieces, length of strips, etc.) - bizarre but it worked.
i also just continue to put things on her plate even though she's not interested. at least it's there for her as an option if desperate

I am feeling badly too, he eats way more than Luke does.
Luke loves pancakes and eggs, both plain no syrup no cheese.
Loves his fruits ( blueberries, strawberries, pears, banana)
Loves carrots.
Thats about it.
Cant get him to eat any kind of meat ( meatballs, chicken nuggets, etc..)
Its definitely tough.

Have you tried meatloaf or mac and cheese? Those are easy ones to hide veggies in if you are worried about the amount of veggies he eats.
I have the book First Meals and they have a section for picky eaters. Maybe there is a recipe in there that will work for you.

I boil lentils in chicken broth - then smash them in to pastina and add a little butter and grated cheese.
I hide pieces of chicken in mashed sweet potatoes.

Try the Perdue Shortcuts. They have grilled chicken, turkey breast etc. DD LOVES them. I usually give them to her cut up with a veggie (peas, mixed veggies, etc)
Eggs and Cheese are a big hit as well as:
Meatload pancakes cottage cheese yogurt grilled cheese pasta with sauce waffles

DS loves:
pasta with sauce - he does not like it with just butter & cheese veggie burgers turkey meatballs from Trader Joe's applesauce string cheese cheese quesadilla with mild sauce grilled ham & cheese sandwiches zucchini fish sticks
I have to cut everything up for him in tiny pieces. I found that he prefers more flavorful foods over bland ones.

Have you tried:
chicken nuggets (Perdue has a whole grain breaded version that's not so salty) chicken salad Tuna Salmon balls soups that are fairly mushy fish sticks potato pancakes ravioli pizza (I make my own often so it's not as salty and oily) melted cheese on bread or a pita canned peaches or pears chopped into small bits

I made porkchops and sauerkraut the other day for DH and Me and gave some to DD, she loved it!!! I was especially surprised by the sauerkraut (guess she got a little german from me!)
Otherwise she usually gets chicken nuggets (purdue ones) and green beans (she loves them).
