Hawaii Vacation
DH & I are throwing around the idea of going to Hawaii for a week in October/November. Would it be worth going to one island or two for that amount of time? Which islands would you recommend going to? Hotels? We would prefer a hotel geared towards adults. Also, are there any airlines that offer direct flights from JFK?
TIA!!!

No airline offers direct flights from NY. Continental has one direct a day from Newark to Honolulu.
If I were going for a week, I'd go to Maui. The 4 Seasons is definitely geared towards adults and is amazing!
On Kauai, check out the Grand Hyatt.

Re: Hawaii Vacation
A week is tough because you loose so much time flying. If I was going for a week i'd definitely do Maui. So peaceful and relaxing, great snorkeling at the Molokini crater. Oahu has more touristy stuff (like Waikiki beach, Diamond Head, etc).
We stayed at the Maui Coast hotel which was very nice.

We did the same!!! We stayed here in Maui for 7 nights, then flew to Kauai and stayed at the Hyatt in Kauai...unreal! I would definitely say to go to Maui if you are only going to one island, there is much more to do and great places to eat and drink!!! Consider extending your vacation a little bit and fly into and out of either Cali or Vegas! When we went for our honeymoon a few years ago, we flew to San Diego, stayed for 2 nights, then did Hawaii for 15 days, then went to Vegas for another 3 nights! It broke up the flying!

Re: Hawaii Vacation
We went last year to Maui and Lanai. We stayed at the Four Seasons on both islands. We preferred Lanai. I would recommend a minimum of 10 days.

Totally Agree.
TRY to squeeze 10 days...
And check out The Grand Wailea on Maui too... as well as the Fairmont Kea Lani. The Fairmont, Grand Wailea, and the Four Seasons are all in the same GORGEOUS quiet area of Maui --- Wailea Beach. A M A Z I N G !!!!!

Re: Hawaii Vacation
My husband I just returned from Hawaii. We were there a little longer so we did the Big Island and Maui.
If I were going to go for just the week I would stick with one island and I would go to Maui.
On the big Island we stayed at Kona Village- I HIGHLY recommend it.
On Maui we stayed at the Marriot Wailea. We stayed for free using points and with that said, we really enjoyed the resort. If we were going back I would stay at the Grand Wailea or the Four Seasons! Grand Wailea is big, but does have a lot for children.
The Four Seasons is adult oriented. The Marriot is something in between- their serenity pool is GORGEOUS!!!!!!
I loved the Wailea area...quiet, beautiful, close to other towns to visit- easy to travel in and around, exellent food...
