he weighs how much!?
I took DS to the ped yesterday b/c he's been coughing/sneezing like crazy. turns out he has a URI, but is almost over it so ped said there was nothing that could be done.
anyway, he weighs him and DS is 16lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he'll be 3 months on oct 3 and was born at 7lbs14oz!!
ped said they should double there birth weight by 6months but that DS is long and acts fine and said he would lose it when he starts crawling and becoming more active
i just feel so bad like 'm stuffing my kid or something, but he doesn't really get ALOT and i've actually been diluting his formula so he gets more water.
has anyone had 'healthy' babies that dropped the weight later?

I wouldn't worry too much. My cousin was 7lbs when he was born and at 2mths old he was 14lbs. He was quite the chubby baby but he is now a skinny lanky teenager.

My nephew was like that now he is a bean pole..
and IMO Do not water down the formula.. it i not making the baby fat.. that is how they get all their nutrients to fight off cold.. etc.. try just giving him 2 oz of plain water a day.. that should be fine

DD is just under 14lbs and is only 2 months old. The ped told me he wasn't ready to put her on Jenny Craig just yet.

Nate was a 10lb baby, but at 16 months he is 25lbs now. Until he was 9 months he was always over the curve. Once he started crawling and walking, his weight gain slowed also. Now he's in the 60th percentile.
Unless the doctor directed you to, I wouldn't dilute his formula.

Dont sweat it, even for another second. He's doing great. Definitely not an indication of his future size.
ETA: SOmetimes I skim through posts so I just wanted to add b/c I saw another response - DONT dilute his formula!!! He needs every single nutrient he is getting. He is fine!

I have a healthy baby now, he was over 16 lbs. at 4 months. My neices I know were both big babies, over the 100th percentile for weight and height. Now, they are 7 & 8 and both tall and skinny! Like rails!

Sydney will be 9 months next week and has been in the 95th percentile since birth...she is 22 pounds now and every visit the doctors tell me not to worry because her weight and her height are in proportion.
