Healthy snacks
Anyone have ideas of healthy snacks while I’m in the hospital? Their food is starting to taste boring since I’m there 5 days straight.
However, I can’t prep or cook anything and I only have access to a small mini fridge. Last time I brought packs of cheese/nuts, but I’m hoping for other suggestions. I also have to be careful about how clean the food is bc my immune system is low. So I can’t really eat grapes or apples bc it’s hard to really clean them in my room.

Re: Healthy snacks
I'm so sorry for what you are going through.
I was also going to suggest guac - those mini packs of Wholly Guacamole are great.
Fruit that doesn't have to be washed - bananas, kiwis, etc.?
I'm a honey wheat pretzel lover myself.
Whole wheat bread, no added sugar strawberry jam, and some almond butter for a quick healthy sandwich.

I went thru Chemo, since you're already not eating fresh fruit. When I was in isolation Banana's were allowed as they have to be peeled. Carnation shakes if allowed, this is filled with protein and helps with wt gain.
Eat anything you can tolerate. Pudding, jello, applesauce.
Good Luck

Are you able to have yogurt smoothies? I love nuts, cheese and dried fruits personally. Maybe you can have someone bring you those pre-made cups in the dairy section with chunks of cheese/crackers/hummus etc. Sending you only the best wishes

Re: Healthy snacks
Oh thought of another. When I worked in an office i always brought those Sargento Balanced Breaks for a snack. Cheese, nuts and dried fruit in a convenient individual package. Delicious and easy

Those are the things I’ve been eating - they’re so great!
I’ve gotten tired of hummus but I’ll try the guacamole cups. Maybe I can bring a small bag of baby carrots - I’ll have to see what doesn’t hurt my mouth since I started getting mouth sores. I also can’t have stuff like popcorn bc I can’t floss my teeth (can’t cause anything that could bleed bc of the possible infection).

What about larabars? They're soft and have just a few simple ingredients. We like the chocolate chip cookie dough and the cashew cookie. Maybe almond butter with crackers or a banana? Justin's makes little packets that are pretty convenient.
