Re: Heart burn?????
I take TUMS Smoothies. Also I found that for me, switching to soy milk and yogurt has helped. I think the skim milk and yougurt were making it worse.

Re: Heart burn?????
I usually have a cup of skim milk before I go to bed and it has helped me wonders. When I have heart burn during the day, I also drink some milk and it helps.

Re: Heart burn?????
If I eat a couple of really strong TUMS it helps a little, for a little while. But nothing really works 100%

Re: Heart burn?????
i have had acid reflux/heartburn for a long time and it's worse now..
Tums smoothies are good.
Some hints though -Don't lay down after eating-wait at least 30-45 mins. -if it bothers you at night prop yourself up in a recline position
Start a food diary to find out your triggers. Write down what you eat, then keep notes next to it-like gave me gas, pain in my left side, extreme heartburn, light heartburn, etc.
Sometimes it's just because the baby is pushing up on all your organs, but if you know your triggers that make it worse, it will be/get better, I promise it's just one of those pg symptoms that is hard/impossible to avoid
For me, I know it's anything green, beef, sauce, tomatoes, onions, peppers, sometimes milk, spicy foods, and very salty foods.

What can I eat without keeping myself up at night and during the day in pain? hmmm, not much. I eat lots of whole grain cereal, oatmeal, chicken-lots of chicken, pasta, cheese, pb and j's, yogurt, that's prob the core of it. Also I cook with olive oil, so i can get some fats.
I will eat sauce sometimes-I am italian, can't live without it, but I will pay for it later, and i have to have my pizza.
It's hard, but i know it will decrease soon and I also take nexium every once in awhile when I am dying of pain..

Re: Heart burn?????
I am in the same boat--it is sooo terrible that TUMS did not help at all. My doctor said I could take Pepcid AC which only helped for a little while. I just deal with it--only 3 more weeks to go!

Re: Heart burn?????
The only thing that really helped me was the liquid Mylanta. It seemed to have a better coating/soothing effect. I found the Orange Creme flavor the best. For a few months, I didn't leave home without my "little blue bottle".

Re: Heart burn?????
I also never had heartburn before. I take Tums and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. I even take them preemptively.
We all must be having some hairy babies (old wives tale- hairy baby=heartbearn)
