heart palpitations
<Medical Disclaimer acknowledged>
For about the past month, I've been feeling my heart do weird things. It'll occasionally beat harder than normal (like if I'm sitting down at my desk), or it'll beat hard for 5-10 seconds then go back to normal, or it'll beat fast even if I'm laying down to go to sleep. I wore a halter monitor for 48 hours and the dr said that everything looks fine "for a 49 year old". I messaged to ask why it's happening if everything is fine and he said that it could be caffeine, alcohol (which I rarely drink), smoking (which I've never done), or possibly perimenopause. Nothing in my life has changed during this time - diet's been the same for years, I get the same amount of sleep, stress/anxiety level is about the same.
I had my physical at the same time and everything is normal (thyroid, glucose, cholesterol, red blood cell count, etc).
Has anyone had something similar? Notice anything that made a difference? Did it eventually stop as quickly as it started?

Re: heart palpitations
Yes.
For me, I get them right when I'm about to ovulate and also when AF is on her way and when it ends. I take xanax if it gets really bad
Also, I tried taking melatonin and it GAVE me palpitations. So if you're taking that, see if it correlates

heart palpitations
Interesting. Last month was the first time I’ve ever skipped a period (not counting pregnancy). I usually get headaches the day before I start but never had palpitations before. I’ll see if I notice if it’s tied to anythjng but for now it seems random (other than when I exercise).
I don’t take melatonin.

Definitely See if your cycle that’s causing it. As soon as I started perimenopause, that was one of the first symptoms I had Did the stress echo, the halter, all of it. Kept a diary and saw a clear picture that it’s hormonal.

Did yours also happen during exercise? Or was it just random times?

Re: heart palpitations
yes not frequently but yes.
saw a cardiologist said could be stress/hormones/caffeine (not a coffee drinker but love chocolate)
she wanted me to try to take my pulse when it happens just out of curiosity to see what it is. did not put me on holter monitor because it was infrequent. she did send me for an echo which was normal.
i'm 44 and also may be in peri menopause

Re: heart palpitations
Not really heart palpitations per se, but my anxiety goes through the roof for no reason right before my period and now lately at ovulation time too. This all started in my 40s so it definitely has some kind of hormonal relation.
ETA- CBD has helps when I'm in the throws of anxiety. It just takes time to figure out the dosage you need that will help.

heart palpitations
I think magnesium supplements help with this issue, I take them as gummy Also if you have any kind of smart watch they can sometimes pick up any abnormal rhythm- heard this about Apple watch

I have an Apple watch so I'll see if I can do that. I know that sometimes I'll get a message that says "breathe" and I assume it's based on my heart rate, but it doesn't do it when I'm having the palpitations.

I do not think the breath is related to the heart. it is a different app... Does your apple watch have the ekg function? The newer model does and i use that to track. I had heart palps and i ended up having SVT and needed 2 ablations done. Also, you can set up your watch to notify you if your heart goes above a certain number of beats per minute. I would see a cardio and get a holter monitor put on so they can see if and when these events happen and take it from there. Self medicating myself didn't work, i tried it all until my PC ended up seeing something on a check up that everyone else brushed aside as anxiety. Get it checked, don't rely on the internet or a watch.
