i know there is a range but is it common for the heartbeat to drop from 9 wks -12 wks?

When you say drop, what do you mean? I was told the heartbeat changes constantly, depending on time of day, etc... I'm 10 weeks w twins & so far they'd increased in the beginning & now both seem to stay in the 170/180's range... Chat Icon

What do you mean by drop? A baby's heart rate usually peaks around week 10 then goes down a bit. It will then stay in a normal range. The time you need to really worry about a drop is say it was 150 week 7 and week 9 it is 99, then yes, it is a concern.

Yes, it's normal. At 8w, their heartbeats were in the 180 range. At my NT Scan, their heartbeats were in the 160s. I was told that this is normal and that after 12 weeks, the rates should stay pretty consistant.

My LO was in the 170 in the beginning and then went to 150's...it was consitantly changing ...I wouldnt be concerned at all :)
