Hello ladies. I have a HSG question.
I have been lurking for a long time on this forum and have discovered so much about TTC from all of you inspiring women.
I just went to an RE yesterday and have a HSG scheduled for Tuesday which will be CD13. We were told not to BD on Sunday or Monday but I should be ovulating on those days. Should I just cancel it and reschedule for next month? I got good results from a sono so I don't really think a blockage is the problem. We also got DH's SA results and it's all good.
I really think my issue is age-related. What would you do?
Also, some information I read on HSGs say you have to go on an antibiotic before and after, but this was never mentioned to me.
Thanks

Re: Hello ladies. I have a HSG question.
I personally would not want to miss out trying ona given month for an HSG. If it were me, I would schedule it next month earlier in the cycle so you don't miss the chance with ovulation. I did not take any antibiotics when I had an HSG. Good luck!

Thanks. That's exactly how I feel. I will do just that for maybe CD5, 6 or 7 if I can. Thanks again.

Re: Hello ladies. I have a HSG question.
I could be wrong, but I think that when I went for my HSG, they would only schedule it for sometime between CD 6 and CD 10 - or somewhere around those days - but I definitely know I couldn't have it as late as CD 13.
If it was me, I would probably have it done the following month.
As for the antibiotic, I think it depends on the doctor. I was not on one but I know other people were put on them.

ITA!
For mine, it had to be AFTER AF and BEFORE O... and we were told to abstain from intercourse from the time AF came until after the HSG so that there would be no chance of us being pregnant at that time.
I wasn't on an antibiotic for mine.
Also, a sono can't really tell you if your tubes are open..

Re: Hello ladies. I have a HSG question.
I was supposed to have one done and they wanted it on day 9 or 10. SO i would reschedule and at least put yourself in the running for this month.
should af come, call them on day 1 to schedule for sometime between day 6-10

This is exactly what happened to me. Mine was scheduled on CD8.
I was given an rx for an antibiotic. Some REs do and others don't.

Re: Hello ladies. I have a HSG question.
I would double check with your RE and verify your cycle day...I think most RE's will only do an HSG between CD6 -10....never that close to ovulation. Especially if you know you ovulate early.
ETA: The antibiotic is a personal choice of each RE. I've seen as many people on here take antibiotics as not.
Good luck!
