Help - we ran out of oil! What do we do? UPDATE
We were supposed to get an oil delivery today, but they didn't show. Now we are out of oil and house is freezing- what can we do? No oil companies in our area (Levittown/wantagh) are deliering
Update:
DH ran out and got some diesel - but once he finally got it into the tank, the burner wouldn't start - so we basically had to live old school last night- lots of blankets and a space heater, boiling water etc.
DH got it all worked out today - the driver didn't realize we had paid by credit card, so he left when no one answered to door!

oh boy. i don't know. it's late now.
we use JC discount fuel. You can see if they deliver there or are still out.

I think you can use diesel fuel from the gas station to run your oil burner.
I used to work at a Hess station in college and people would come in all the time and get diesel fuel when they ran out of oil. I would google it to get more info before you do it. I am not sure how much or the details of how you use it instead of oil.

My Dad did this a few times when I was younger (and we were poor and would run out of oil).
Take a gas can to the gas station and buy a few gallons of diesel.

You can use diesel fuel for the night. I would be about 5 gallons to carry you until tomorrow. I know my parents and a few friends that have done this.

Call the company and tell them what happened. They cannot leave you wth no oil.

You can jump start it with diesel. Our landlord has done this to use 2x.
Go to the gas station and get 5 gallons, that should hold you over to morning
And freaking rip that company a new one tomorrow morning!

Call the oil company. Usually they will give you enough for the night and send a real delivery tomorrow.
