HELP!!!!!!!!
I really need some advice...
I got an offer for a job today - just waiting to receive the official letter.
This stems from an interview I had only yesterday! I also had another interview yesterday which went VERY well, and I have a 2nd one scheduled with them for this coming Monday.
The company that made me the offer today is being pushy. They initially called me this morning and asked if I could start THIS Monday! I told them no, and that I can start on Jan 2nd - they were fine with that (DH and I have a trip planned for Christmas week, etc).
my dilemma is that I would MUCH rather work for the 2nd company - the one I have the 2nd interview with on Monday.
I need more time to sign the offer letter! what I would like to do is try and hold off the company with the offer until later on next week. But they have met all of my requirements and I don't want to do anything to jeopardize my situation by telling them I need a week to think it over.
I also don't want to tell the 2nd company they need to speed things along b/c I have another offer… again, I don’t want to jeopardize anything.
HELP!!!!!

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!
Why don't you tell them that you need a few days to think it over and that your DH is out of town on business and you need to discuss it when he gets back (you can say he gets back next week?)

that would have been PERFECT! but I already mentioned to them that DH and I looked over their benefits last night...

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!
First off, congrats on the offer and great interviews! Any company that is pushy like that is most likely not a place you want to work. I'm a recruiter and any of my clients that are worth it are understanding, within limits, that people need time to make decisions. If your gut tells you to wait for the other company on Monday then do it. If this pushy place really wants you they will wait. It sounds to me like they just desperately need someone and even though I am sure you are very qualified, I'm not sure you should take it just because you feel pressured to give them an answer. FM me if you need to talk.

HELP!!!!!
You can tell them you have another offer. I would tell them you are extremely interested in them but feel you must let them know you have received another offer. You're not being pushy...you are keeping them informed. This happens a lot with my clients and if they are interested in someone, they can usually move things along faster.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!
Thank you Reese!
ok, what I think I am going to do is if/when I get the offer in writing, I am going to tell them that I need some time to review this w/my family and that it's a very important decision. and that I will need until mid - end of next week to give them a definitive answer.

If they definitely do an offer in writing, you have a couple of days to make a decision. Offers in writing trump verbal offers. You have FM!
