Help!!
My school has literacy night coming. I need to do a presentation with my third grade class for thier parents. I have no idea what to do. I was thinking doing a play, or making having the kids make a photostory or powerpoint presentation of something they have researched..
Any ideas??????????????

Re: Help!!
i've done the photostories and they have been a HUGE hit with aprents. they are so amazed when they see the visuals and hear the kids narrating their own stories. you can upload pics from the internet or scan in their drawings. it's great... only thing is, to have the kids do their own is very time consuming and usually requires help (maybe your computer teacher or a T.A.) and you have to allot for that time. or perhaps you could have the kids work in groups and have say 4-5 phtostories.
GOOD LUCK!

Re: Help!!
Thanks for getting back to me! I was thinking photo story might be my best bet.
Did you have the kids write the story on the photo story and read it or did you just have them give a verbal story from the pictures?
(Is that confusing?)

i had my kids type it into the boxes in photostory and then when i came around to record them, they just read from the box. i found that better because they knew exactly what to say. with third graders though, you coudl have them handwrite it for each slide instead of typing... otherwise, they might get nervous!
also, my kids did a research project and each slde had a specific piece of information, so they had to research their info. it wasnt' them making up a story, if that makes sense...

Re: Help!!
Ahh I see.. you used the record function..
You also didn't have them write a story, you used it for research..
I am torn doing research or creative writing. I think I may go with creative writing in the interest of time!
Thanks for your help!
