Help! Day care centers in Queens
I need some recommendations on day care centers. DS will be starting day care at 4 months old in September. He is currently enrolled in a group family daycare, but I would prefer to get him into a center if I can. Any suggestions?? I would need care 5 days a week from 7:30 AM-3:30PM. I called the new Kiddie Academy thats opening up in Little Neck this summer, and the director said they start at two. I thought Kiddie Academy's were like Tutor Time's, that started at 6 weeks? She says because the center will be on the second floor, the state will not allow infants and toddlers. Yet, when I went on a tour of Tutor Time in Bayside, they were on the second floor with infants. I am so confused, but any recommendations would be so helpful! TIA!

I am in Bayside- but I am looking for anything in Bayside, Little Neck, Douglaston, or even Great Neck. I teach in Great Neck.

Can't recommend it yet as DS starts in 2 weeks but he'll be going to Tutor Time in Bayside (which yes, is on the 2nd floor so I have no idea what the Kiddie Academy person was talking about). Did you not like it when you visited?

I loved it when I visited. The only problem was that they didn't have the shorter hours for infants. I only need to have him there from 7:45-3:30, but I would have to pay for 8-6 until he is in the toddler room and no longer in a crib. It was such a beautiful center, and I will probably end up just keeping him in with the sitter until he is old enough to go in the toddler room and then switch him over to Tutor Time if I cant find another center I like. UGH so frustrating

Thanks for the reply - I'm starting to freak out about not being with DS 24/7 so it's good to hear other people have seen where he's going and like it
Good luck with your search - I was unable to find any other centers in the area (I live in Little Neck) that took infants. There is a Tutor Time in New Hyde Park under a different franchise owner. I *think* the part time / full time rules are the same but it may be worth looking into just to be sure.

Re: Help! Day care centers in Queens
I was very happy with Tudor Time in Bayside for their infant care, the second toddler room was a whole other story.
Marcus avenue early childhood developmental program has a daycare in lake success that also takes infants. I was very happy with them, (although Ryan wasnt there as an infant) but its part of a real school, so its not-for-profit, unlike TT. They also have a real nurse on staff so that made me very happy.

We are planning on using the one in New Hyde Park, but there is a very long wait to get into that one. If you are interested, I would call right away to ask them for info. Good luck.

Where exactly is this located? Is this the school that is right by LIJ? I know there is a day care center right there, I always see kids in the playground, but I never caught the name of it. Also, if you don't mind me asking, what was wrong with the toddler room? You can FM if you would prefer, it's just that toddlers is when Joey would start in this Tutor Time, but not if it is a negative experience.

Re: Help! Day care centers in Queens
Thanks, I just called TT in New Hyde Park...no spots for September at all. I am going to go in for a tour tomorrow though and get him put on the wait list. Anyone know anything about Harbor Child Care in New Hyde Park, or CLASP in Great Neck? TIA!

My friend sends both of her sons to Harbor and she loves it. The older one just turned 5 and has been going since 6 months old.
