HELP!! First time mom.. how does one... (dont laugh)
go about washing baby socks, and other clothes. Im so overwhelmed. Do you seariously read the tags every time. I have done 4 loads today and just exhausted. THis one warm, this one cold, this one cold lights, this one cold warm. There has to be an easier way. And not to mention how do you go about sorting it in drawers. We were given a lot of hand me downs from his aunt who had twins (we have premie- up to 18 months) now i of course not washing premies and have washed up to 6-9 months thinking thats good enough. even that might be a little far. So im open to any suggestions. Im drowning in clothes here.

Re: HELP!! First time mom.. how does one... (dont laugh)
everything goes in on the gentle cycle on cold. everything--i don't separate anything unless it's the first time i'm washing a very dark colored outfit. then i do it so it doesn't bleed.
i do laundry like 4 times a week--if i had to sort it i'd go nuts
i only washed the NB stuff. i washed 0-3 when he was ready for it. i stopped washing things before wearing after 0-3. all onesies went in one drawer. outfits got hung up in the closet. PJs and long sleeve onesies in another. burp cloths and bibs in another. just do what works for you. there's no right or wrong way

Re: HELP!! First time mom.. how does one... (dont laugh)
So you've washed up to 6-9 months already? If so, I'd stop there! I only washed the size my DD was in, and packed the rest away and washed them as I was transitioning her wardrobe over to the next size.
ETA: I wash everything of hers on "delicate" and warm/cold...I do check to make sure dresses/etc can be put into the dryer, but everything goes in the dryer on low/medium.

Re: HELP!! First time mom.. how does one... (dont laugh)
i just wash all of DD's stuff in cold...
In the closet i have hanging her outfits... i also have them sorted by size. We originally got a lot of hand me downs to- whatever didnt fit hanging i just kept folded in a box elsewhere. In her draws i put short sleeved onsies, long-sleeved onsies, and sometimes pants (now that it is winter i have her mix & match pants hanging in the closet) I also have her feetie pjs folded in her drawers...

I was everything mixed together in cold water. Put most of it in the dryer, I usually hang the dresses to dry so they don't shrink up. Her closet is a mess though, that's one area I could stand to be more organized in.

Since DD was born, I wash everything in cold water and dry on low heat. Some things do get hung up, but that's only recently, really, not so much when she was a newborn.

Thanks girls!
I think i feel overwhelmed because i dont know what size he will be when he is delivered. As of 35 weeks we were 6lb13 oz give or take and my DH was a big baby. So will baby realistically fit newborn stuff i have no clue cuz to me they look so tiny. so i will def. box away the bigger stuff then. My closet wasnt exactly set up for hanging stuff but i supposed i can do that easily the hooks for the rod are there ill just move one of the shelves.

Re: HELP!! First time mom.. how does one... (dont laugh)
ds had all hand me downs for newborn and 0-3 stuff form my nephew and they were all washed when given to me.
I throw everything in together except if it's dark and never been washed before. Clothes he crapped all over either go in the garbage or in the wash by themselves in hot water.

Re: HELP!! First time mom.. how does one... (dont laugh)
I'm a renegade I wash everything together in warm water with perfume-free all and perfume-free oxyclean... and do a double rinse cycle. then, everything gets tossed in the dryer together.
Only the size(s) he's currently wearing is in his dresser. the other sizes are in space bags. we have one drawer for PJs, hats and socks, another with daytime clothing (jeans/sweaters), and a 3rd with bathing supplies, bibs, and burp cloths.

DS was 8 lbs 1 oz when he was born. He's 5.5 weeks now and is just starting to outgrow the newborn stuff.
I wash everything together.

Re: HELP!! First time mom.. how does one... (dont laugh)
I washed only newborn and very little 0-3 at first. Then the rest as she grew. I just did/do everything on cold all in one load. Like another poster said, unless it was a dress or something, everything goes right in the dryer as well. I am a lunatic with organizing her clothes so don't take my advice. But I'll tell you what I do. Top drawer has undies (thats only recent), socks, undershirts, and hair accessories. I got dividers from bed bath and beyond. Middle drawer has outfits all put together and ready to go (I told you I am a lunatic), bottom drawer has pj's and sweaters/sweatshirts. Closet has new clothes and dresses.

everything goes together on warm/cold in this house! Low heat in the dryer.
nicer outfits get delicate/cold cycle, hang dry.

Re: HELP!! First time mom.. how does one... (dont laugh)
I wash all of her stuff as my own clothing is washed.
I seperate everything, and whites get washed on Hot/Hot; lights on Warm/Cold, and darks on Cold/Cold.
Then everything into the dryer for 40 mins on perm press.
