HELP! Frustrating feeding time in our house!
Troy has ALWAYS been such a good eater, and we've been blessed and thankful.
But now that Troy is getting older, he is getting more independent and wants to do so many things by himself. I often encourage his independence, but it's become more frustrating at meal time.
For example, he wants to do it ALL by himself, to the point that he tells me or DH to go, as it get up from the chair and leave him be! Problem is he gets frustrated and pushes the plate/bowl onto the floor.
I offer to help and he freaks. I try to help by putting the food on the fork and handing it to him, he pushes the fork out of my hand.
I am not sure what to do. Any suggestions on how to help him??
It works me to almost no patience, mostly because I want to help him!
TIA!!
Just had a thought, maybe he needs more kid friendly finger foods, any suggestions?

we are going through the same thing it's frustrating b/c my DS wants to do it all himself but still needs our help with some of the feeding aspects (e.g stabbing certain foods with the fork ,etc), so he becomes frustrated also. I would love to hear what other people have done too

Same here!! My dog is getting really fat!!! Ds loves fruit cups: apples, mixed fruit, clementines. They are cut up pretty small and he can eat them without any help!

We just leave her alone and let her eat. If we go near her food, she pushes us away, so it's not worth it. I'm trying to never make eating a battle, so she does it mostly on her own. She figures it out eventually.

Our DD has gotten the same way. She has become very picky. She has the cocept of punching the fork on the food but hasnt grasped actually putting it in her mouth. If I try to help her she wont eat. I guess it is a stage that they all go though.
