HELP! He's petrified of the vacuum!!!
James freaks the F out whenever I turn the vacuum on. I'm talking full-on shrieking, hands flailing, snot-pouring-down-the-nose hysterics. Sometimes he'll even react if it's in the same room as him even if it's not turned on.
Is there anything I can do to minimize this reaction? I do realize I can vacuum at night after he goes to sleep, but sometimes I need to do it when he's awake.

My son was like that too. I think recently he's starting to get used to. Instead of keeping it in a closet I keep it where he can see it. He will now touch it without being scared when it's off. I usually use it when my huband is home if I can so he can stay with my son. Good luck!

Re: HELP! He's petrified of the vacuum!!!
I have no suggestions as mine still does this at three...and the dog too. If I ever want to be left alone--I vacuum

Sorry, I posted and ran before
We have a dog too, that goes crazy as well, so between James throwing a hissy and Lilly barking her fool head off, I'm in a quandry. If I do it at night, Lilly goes nuts and 'm afraid of her waking him, even though he sleeps very soundly.

It's only temporary! As he gets older he'll want to play with it

Can you hold him while vacuuming for a few times, to let him know it can be *fun*?
