*HELP* I bought, installed and moved ALL my photos to an external hard drive.....

...that was a couple weeks ago. It went smoothly. But now I have some photos I want to put on there and I cannot "find" the drive on my computer!!!

To view the files I have on there I would go to "My Computer" and select the "G" drive that said "My Book". Now, it's not there!!!!!

HELP!!!!!!!

forgive me, but is the MyBook connected to your computer? (could the usb have come loose?)

I am asking this only because I have done it -- is the external drive powered on & connected to the computer?

I checked the cable before posting (in hopes to prevent embarassment). And, as far as it being on, the light is on in the front, so I assume it's on....let me double check though....

Okay, I checked it out. Didnt see a switch. THere may be one, bu tI have no patience right now, terrified I've lost everything.

Let me just say, when I put all the pics there, I still left them on the computer's HD b/c I was afraid I'd lose everything. I did removed them a few days later.

*ETA* I unplugges the power source for 10 sec and plugged it back in....it just popped up a promp to "run mybook" I chose that.....hmmmm, now it's installing software. maybe I did not let it fully do that initially

have you external drive off...

reboot your machine

once everything is booted back up...turn on your external drive drive

When you turn on/plug in a drive, you should see activity in the lower right hand corner near your clock. It should even tell you, your device is ready to be used...

at which point, go back to your first post by going to my computer then your g: drive...

YEAH!!! IT'S BACK!!! I let it install what it needed to.

are you running out of space that you need to "move" it?

you may want to use this as a backup and do this monthly or bi-weekly depending on how many photos you take
