Help! i bought show tix for SIL and I just read the show is ending!
SIL has been dying to see Grease so I got her two tix for Christmas for Jan 17. I just read in the paper that the show is ending Jan 4!!
I paid for insurance and rush shipping and all those other stupid fees they charge!
What do I do now?
Other than calling ticketmaster...
Also, any other show suggestions?

I really enjoyed Legally Blonde- it's a fun, cutesy show that's easy to get tickets for.
Also loved Wicked but that's hard to get tickets for. Chicago is another good one. South Pacific is back on Broadway.
IMHO- Grease wasn't very good anyway.
ETA: I saw a sign on a theater last week that a show had closed and it said to contact the theater by phone for refunds. HTH.

I agree! I had to make sure it was a weekend that my SIL and her BF weren't working. Its been a challenge keeping a secrete and I have been so excited to give them to her!

Ticketmaster refunded my money - but not the 'processing fee'

I would call the theatre first and find out the real story. I don't understand how they can sell tickets for a show AFTER they close date.

that is total BS!!! I should get every cent back!!! Can I dispute it with my credit card company! I shouldn't have to be penalized for that!

Wow, I saw Young Frankenstein and it was hilarious! I didn't know it was cancelled! I took my mom to Grease and I didn't like it much either. I also loved Rock of Ages and of course Wicked, but those tickets are so hard to get spur of the moment. Chicago was very good. What about Hairpsray? I haven't seen it, but I am sure it is great!

It's also not Ticketmaster's fault that the show ended. They did what they were paid to do; deliver you tickets.
The show should be responsible, they probably didnt notify Ticketmaster that they were ending, so Ticketmaster kept on selling as normal.

Then the show should be responsible for paying ticket master for doing their job, not you!!! I would fight it.. with the way things are these days.. Ill be darn if Im going to be the one paying for something for no reason.

Same as everyone else, they can't afford to keep running....it is sad, but I'm sure show tickets are something that get cut out of budgets pretty quickly when people are trying to save money!

Yup there are unfortunetly a lot of shows going dark on Broadway. Tickemaster has to refund you the face value of the tickets. I'm sorry it got cancelled.

Broadway.com is okayyy...but they only have certain seats available for certain shows...so it gets difficult. I got the ILs a ticketmaster gift card last year so they could pick either a concert or show whevever they wantedd. just another suggestion.

My bf had tix for the Grease show I believe for the 17th as well, they switched his ticket dates to January 3rd for him, they day before the show ends!

Oh yeah Hairspray was pretty good! Lots of dancing!
They probably sold the tix before they knew the closing date or they changed that date afterward.
