float and sink
have them collect colored leaves and then graph the colors that they pick out of the bag
(most and least)
classifying types of transportation (air, sea, land)
stages of pumpkin growth

You could do something with the five senses. That's what our K science curriculum is right now.

yeah, i did something like that with my kindergranters. i made a guess box. they had to use their senses to guess the mystery item.

also, since it's the fall, maybe you could get some fall fruits like apples (different types) pumpkins, etc. and have a taste test... using their five senses. then construct a pictograph or bar graph showing the favorites.

You can make a chart with 5 senses and give them all bags of things and they have to classify them in small groups. Fm me for more info I did it with first graders and it went well. Good luck!Chat Icon

* Apple taste testing then graphing
*Estimating circumf. of a pumpkin (too long, too short, just right)
* Sorting fall leaves

I just did my fav. lesson on mixing colors. I used this during my student teacher days and still have it 10 yrs later. We read Mouse Paint and then I have a big chart to guess/predict what colors will be made from yellow, blue and red. The kids then have a sheet where they get to mix the colors. FM me if you are interested. If you are in the Smithtown area you can borrow the chart if you need to. I also have all the dittos that goes along with it. We tie in patterning with this activity too. Good luck!
