HELP, I need an outfit for my DD Baptism

It's at the end of the month, so something cool and summery.

I can't seem to find a dress that fits, cause I need more room for my BF boobsChat Icon.
I am 5'8" and a 12 top and 10 bottom.Chat Icon (I don't know how to shop at this size)

I tried on a cute halter dress that fit awesome and nice support, except for the underarm boob fat, so no way!

(it does not need to be BF accessable)

I wanted to stay away from capris or pants, maybe a nice skirt, but I can't seem to find anything I like that is not too casual.

PLEASE HELP!!

At 5'8" I am thinking you are slim! How would a gorgeous pencil skirt (high waisted) with a thick belt and a pretty ruffle down the front top?? I love a pencil skirt with a pointy pump. Chat Icon

Re: HELP, I need an outfit for my DD Baptism

I don't know how comfortable I will be in a pencil skirt....but I can try one on when I go looking (AGAIN) this weekend.

I don't feel very slim, I used to be a comfortable 6 before DD. My stomach is not that bad, but it's not as flat as I am used to. I guess I am just not comfortable with my current shape.

Where do you think I should look?

I did not see anything in Macy's. I don't have nordstrom or bloomingdales near me (NC).

I know pencil skirt sound stiff and uncomfortable but they are really not. And the button down ruffle top would be easy for the bf part!!

It does not have to be BF friendly, because I will probably just bottle feed. It'll only about 6 hours and I have lasted that long before.

Re: HELP, I need an outfit for my DD Baptism

check out ann taylor loft! I got my dress for DD's baptism there. I had the same issues as you and I feel confident and comfortable wearing this dress! I got it in navy but it comes in white too. Pre-pregnancy I wore a size 4 in ann taylor and I bought this dress in a size 6.

I'm ****** though because I paid $79 for it and it's on sale on the website for $49!!

ETA...I'm 5'5" and it doesn't look that short on me at all. If that's a concern for you. They also had a lot of other nice dresses that would be comfy...including halters.

I'd love to do online, but now knowing my size and what fits well, I feel like I am going to spend $$ and drive myself nuts with returns. Usually I don't mine online shopping if I have the store near me to return too. But I don't have those stores near me.

Re: HELP, I need an outfit for my DD Baptism

if your basic shape hasn't changed besides being a bit bigger post partum, the size difference between a 6 is a 10 is not the great, so the fits that worked for you before should work for you now, just get the larger size.

I fluctuate between a 6 and a 10 on a regular LOL, and I've never even had kids.

you may not feel as confident just b/c you are larger, but at your height, you are probably carrying that extra weight fairly well (I am about 5'6")

a pencil skirt may seem counter intuitive, but the right one will be a knockout on your right now.

Banana Republic, though pricey, has some nice fitting pencil skirts. even at the outlets.

again, a size 10 at your height is a pretty good size. you probably look a lot better than you think you do. Chat Icon

Re: HELP, I need an outfit for my DD Baptism

I do think I am carrying the same as Pre-preg.

Ok, I'll try Banana Rep, Express, Ann Taylor, white house/black market this weekend. I have them all in the same shopping area! Luckily my DH is great at watch DD and giving my honest opinion.

Thanks girls for the suggestions! I'll try the pencil skirt!!!!

ETA: I love the blue dress and purple top! Maybe the purple top and a black skirt!

Wish me luck for tomorrow's shopping!!!!

I love the idea of separates for you, especially since your top is bigger.

if you buy a dress to accomodate your larger top, it may be too big on the bottom, making you appear larger over all.

I think the pencil skirt and the purple shirt or something similar will look beautiful

Have a great time shopping! don't let a change in size get you down!!!!!

ETA: also, not all pencil skirts are created equal, of one doesn't look right, try another. I've find that for me (small waist, large butt and hips) the high waisted kind are the most flattering...and I NEVER would have thought that before I tried it.
