Help! Long
My poor dog has been sick ever since he went to the groomer (about 8wks ago). I took him to the vet 2x already. They took blood and stool sample and everything came back good. However, he has been coughing and gagging since. He also has been shaking his ears a lot. When he was at the vet he got his anal sacs empty, which was suppose to help with the ear shaking/scratching.
Fast forward to the 2nd vet visit (because he was still coughing and gagging) the vet put him on a 2 week antibiotic thinking it may be kennel cough (although he has had the vaccine). He just finished the meds and is still gagging, coughing, and grunting when he goes to lay down.
Could it be allergies? I don't know what else to do, but get a 2nd opinion. Anyone else's pet suffering from allergies?

Re: Help! Long
I am so sorry. First t hing I thought of was kennel cough. Otherwise could it be a coincidence? Allergies as you said? I have no experience with this, so I have no input. But I you find some answers soon. Poor baby.

Re: Help! Long
The same thing happen to my dog. She had this for 8 weeks. She got better on her own. Everything was negative for her too. I believe she had a virus, and no treatment for viruses. Don't go back to the that groomer.

Re: Help! Long
Any chance it's ear mites? I'm not sure if that would make him cough/gag though, but maybe it's a possibility?
I hope he feels better soon!!!

Re: Help! Long
Thank you all for the feed back. If he's still not feeling well next week we'll bring him back to the vet.

Re: Help! Long
I'm so sorry you're going through this! I know how awful it is to see your dog suffering. My dog was scratching like crazy and coughing (although not as much as the scratching) for months. We brought her to the vet and they had no explanation. Finally, I looked up pet allergies (the vet didn't mention this to me) and the one that kept coming up was poultry. I removed poultry from her diet and it all cleared up in about a week and a half.
