help me find an artcle...regarding kids listening to beyonce, katy perry etc.
The other day someone posted on facebook an article about young girls listening to certain artists and how inappropriate the songs were. They gave examples of numerous katy perry and beyonce songs...

Funny, I have had this discussion with a few people over the past few days - DD1 is 3 1/2 and DD2 is 18 months and they both LOVE pop music and they both sing songs on the radio. So many songs now are inappropriate for kids, but they hear these songs all the time - in the car, in stores, on TV. I hadn't even listened to the lyrics of All About That Bass until DD1 started singing "boys like a little more booty to hold at night (booty booty)!" I just don't know how to not expose them to these songs - they are everywhere. So, my point is, I would be interest in the article too!

I have the same problem. Both of my kids LOVE pop music and all of the popular artists. On Sirius they have the kids station that plays their version of the songs.

He's been belting out Beer for my Horses, Wagon Wheel, American Kids, Something about a Truck..since he's two lol

My 3.5 year old is a big Zac Brown Band fan. He can sing every lyric of Chicken Fried.

They watch DVDs in the car so they're not listening to the radio but they do listen to music on TV sometimes during commercials and such but I'm keeping them away from most of the everyday music on the radio as long as I can

I sometimes get shocked by the lyrics on the radio....and then I hear "Do Me" on the 90's station and I realize what scandalous lyrics really sound like!! LOL

I would go crazy if I had to listen to kid songs on the radio in my car. It is what it is, I will teach her to respect herself, a song on the radio is not going to tell her to ask boys to hold her booty at night. It starts at home, and we can't keep our kids in a bubble.

I used to belt out the lyrics to Cherry Pie, Mr. Brownstone and Unskinny Bop as a kid, and it was years before it made any sense to me on an adult level.
My parents always had The Wall and Woodstock on television...I turned out okay!
ETA: the real issue here is...why are people listening to Katy Perry?   I kid, I kid.

Same here! K-Love is our favorite station. My 5 year old DD knows all the songs.
I do agree with another poster who said that you can't keep kids in a bubble, but you can be conscious of what you expose them to daily.
