help me interpret this message from the doc-UPDATE he called back AND some questions!
I missed his call but he said my lh was high and that he still wants to see me tuesday as planned but we may have to discuss doing "something else". I'm on cd 10, haven't responded to the femara yet. If I dont show any progress by this tuesday, he mentioned at my appt yesterday about starting follistim.
What is this "something else" hes talking about? Im wondering why he bothered calling-is it something so important that can't wait till tuesday? I emailed him, so hopefully he will respond... TIA
*************UPDATE********* I thought I had sent him an email on Friday so when I checked my sent mail today, there was nothing!! So that's why he hadn't responded.. So I emailed him again this morning and got a call in LESS than five minutes! I love this guy! I seriously wouldnt want to deal with anyone else during this process.
My LH was 24. He wants to try Menopur and Ganirelix. WTFF
What am I in for? What kind of side effects to expect?
Doc says it probably wont make me MORE crazy but I'm not so sure
TIA

Re: help me interpret this message from the doc
Something similar happened to me last year where I started femara, did not respond at all .. and went on gonal-f (same thing as follistim).
I'm assuming that's all he means by "something else" and I assure you it's not a big deal!! He just means a tweak in the protocol which will hopefully lead you to your BFP!!

Re: help me interpret this message from the doc
Is it Dr.B? He had me start dexamethasone when my LH was high. The first cycle with high LH was dex and femara, 2nd cycle was folisitim, dex, femara and baby asprin.

Im already on dex. Im just wondering why hes calling when we pretty much already discussed what the protocol will be in case I dont respond. I am thinking maybe he had something else in mind. Hes too busy to be calling me about something we already discussed, unless he s calling to confirm that the high lh means that I should start the follistim for sure. blah!!!

Re: help me interpret this message from the doc
Still no response to my email, I'm assuming it wasn't that important after all... I even tried calling the office even though I know they won't answer.

I am on menopur and ganirelix right now, actually... As far as side effects, I have bloating but I'm not so sure that's because of the menopur or because I have ton and tons of follies in each ovary (way more than you would produce for an IUI!!!). Of course the bloating could be from the prednisone.. the gonal ...
Anyway, it's not a big deal at all and I know I keep saying that, but it really isn't! I find the hardest part of the injects is the emotional aspect of it. Last cycle I kept taking a step back and looking at myself saying HOW DID I GET HERE?! .. because taking injects is NOT supposed to be normal, but it became MY normal.
I find menopur burns while it's going in, so inject slowly!
You will be fine!
ETA: I love that guy too!!

Re: help me interpret this message from the doc-UPDATE he called back AND some questions!
i was on ganirelix to lower my LH a few cycles. it was more effective than dex alone. what we generally found was that ganirelix did such a good job at shutting down the LH that we had to add luveris (in your case menapur) back to increase LH enough for proper follie production. but dr. B always said its better to have no LH and be able to add back as much or as little as we wanted, than to have it be out of control high.
i didnt find there to be too many side effects from these meds. i have to agree that once you are used to it, they are no big deal at all. the anticipation is worse than the actual injects.
good luck!

I did Ganirelix and Menopur this cycle. Ganirelix is a breeze to inject (it was my "favorite" one - lol). Menopur requires a bit of preparation and burns a bit when injecting, but overall, really not that bad.
Good luck!

Re: help me interpret this message from the doc-UPDATE he called back AND some questions!
I don't take those drugs but I take lovenox and that burns. I find it helps to ice the skin then do the shot then ice again. Then I just sit for 2 minutes because if I get up too quick it burns. Just a little tip the wonderful girls on here gave me. :)
Good luck. The thought of shots is really worse than the shot itself. I'm terrified of needles and I find it's better to just do it. Some girls find it easier to have DH do them but my DH is a bigger chicken than me so I don't even want him around when I'm doing a shot.
