Help me pick a chandelier for my kitchen...
i just purchased a new kitchen table and chairs and i would like to get a new chandelier as well. The ceilings are vaulted in the breakfast nook area just to give you an idea. Which Chandelier do you like better?

I like #1, but in another thread someone mentioned those little lampshades can get very dirty. In a kitchen the might get greasy, depending on how close your table is to your range.
I'd try & figure out if they material was able to be cleaned ( with a sponge, I guess)

Good point - i hadnt thought about that - but we have a little breakfast nook area that is pretty far away from our stove top. I will make sure tonight though...

#2 looks just like my DR chandelier but I have shades on it. I like that one! Being that your ceiling is vaulted this may be a good choice for you b/c it may be a good size within the space.

LOVE # 1 with a different color shade. Perhaps red or sage if it works with your colors. I love your table also.

Re: Help me pick a chandelier for my kitchen...
#2 might be too big. do you have the measurements? i really like #1 and think it would look even nicer if you buy or have the shades made in the same fabirc as the seat cushions. maybe even a burgandy plaid so it flows w/ the colors in the den.
here is some info in re to chandelier size:
One universally correct formula for determining the correct size light fixture for the Dining Room is to go with a fixture that has a diameter that is half the diameter (or width) of the tabletop. For instance, if the Dining Room table is a rectangle of 48” wide x 72” long, a chandelier that is approximately 24” (half of the 48” width of the table) in diameter would look fabulous. If the table is a 60” round diameter, a 30” diameter chandelier would be appropriate.
The height of the actual chandelier should be determined on the ceiling height of the room. Many Designers follow the rule of allowing 2 ½” – 3” for each foot of a rooms height. Using this calculation, a room that has an 8’ ceiling can use a chandelier that is approximately 20” to 24” in height. If the ceiling is 10 feet high, than a light fixture that is 25” to 30” would look more appropriate.
The chandelier should be hung centered over the table (unless you are installing more than 1 fixture over the table) and the bottom of the light fixture should be about 30” above the table top.

Re: Help me pick a chandelier for my kitchen...
def number 2!!! you can get 2 looks from it with or without the shades and decorate them with twigs for the holidays too. number 1 is boring. We have a similiar style as number 2 from fortunoffs and LOVE it!!!! edited to say its in our DR.
