Help me please!!! I need constipation remedies!!!
Joey (my 2 year old) is so severely constipated.
This all started back in May when we were on vacation. He was having too much fun and was distracted, he "forgot" to poop. (He was a 2-3 times a day pooper). Well, finally he went, and it hurt.
Now...he ALWAYS thinks it's going to hurt, so he won't push.
And because he won't push, it all gets backed up and he is a MESS!!
Sometimes he can barely walk upright!!!
I've tried it all...Miralax stool softener; gycerin stick suppositories; vaseline on my pinky; vaseline on a thermometer; prune juice...WHAT ELSE can I do for this poor kid???
Any suggestions....PLEASE?!?!?!?!?

Besides what you've listed, lots of water. I was told tea works too. Pear juice. Absolute worst case, castor oil, but I'd get my ped involved for that.

Have you checked with PED? The hard large stool might have cause a anal fissure in his coolie, and those hurt alot.
In the meantime, i would give him lots of water, minimal milk and juice and try to limit his binding foods like apples, bananas, red meats, breads, refined food and sugars.
Good for you pooping foods-Oatmeal, LOTS OF FRUIT, barley, almonds, fiber rich foods like veggies. You could prob get fruit down the easiest. Sooner or later it'll be like cream cheese and he can't hold it.
But i'd def have his coolie checked by the ped first to make sure his hard stool didn't cause a fissure.

In the case of a fissure, would I have seen any blood? There wasn't any, because I inspect!  And...my pinky was in there and there wasn't any blood then either.
I know that what caused this is totally behavioral too. It hurt once, so he didn't want to poop anymore. Now, with this vicious cycle, because he WON'T push, he is all backed up.
I guess we will be visiting the ped. But what will they do that I haven't done already? I feel so bad for my baby, but I don't want him poked and prodded either.

if he has it... the BM that hurt him wouldn't have blood, but BMss after there would either be red blood streaked on his poo or you would see red blood when u wipe.
DEf give him lots of fruit, it'll just come out and he won't be able to be in "control" of pushing

When my daughter was very, very uncomfortable we used mineral oil to clear her out under doctor's supervision. After that, benefiber was added to her water for a while. Then we got to spring and she ate so much fruit that the benefiber wasn't needed anymore. Hope you figure it out soon!

Aww poor little guy. The only thing I use is undiluted pear juice, at least 6oz every 2 hours.

If you have used miralax already that should work as it is a perscription med. My DD has taken that and within 3 days it makes her go lot and is very soft. If he hasnt gone in a few days he might have a large stool that he wont push. In that case you might have to use a childrens enema to clear it out and then continue the miralax for 1-2 weeks for him to get used to being regular. After that continue with fiber or prune juice ect...... This is what we did for my DD under her ped supervision. Good Luck! I have been there and it is HORRIBLE to see them in such pain. My daughter was actually diagnised with 'pychological withholding' since she wouldnt push for fear of pain.
