Help me strengthen my nails....

I just might have the weakest nails on the planet and to top it off I have had silk warpping for the past 2+ years, to prevent them from painfully breaking. But I just have no time or $$ to keep up with the visits.

So I an thinking about taking off the silk, cutting them short and going for manicures.

What products to you recommend for them?
(I take vitamines already)

Also, are manicures weekly or biweekly?

Manicures are usually weekly. I would suggest you use Nailtiques formula 2, it has done wonders for my nails. They are so strong and barely break. You must use it weekly though.

I have a whole regimen.

I do them myself though. I have no patience for the nail salon anymore.

I took of the acrylics (after like 16 years of straight use), then immediately put on "age corrective growth" formula by sally hansen. Then I put a coat of Teflon Tuff on top of that.

If you want a colour, then put the colour after the teflon tuff & add another coat on top of the colour.

Each day after for 7 days, I add another coat, but for this I use Diamond Strength, also by sally hansen. The 7th day I remove the polish with a conditioning nail polish remover, then do it all over again.

I have grown my nails very long, and I type all day, do house work etc & I very rarely have any break.

Also, especially in the beginning, get some kind of cuticleconditioning lotion & massage your cuticles a few times a week. this stimulates growth.

stuff I can do at home is ok (I used to all the time)....it's the 2 hour appointments and $60 a month I can't do.

Sally Hansen Natural Growth always worked for me when I had real nails...

I have always used Nailtek and I apply it twice a week. It's about $10 oer bottle but it's great. People always comment on how great my nails look and it's due to NailTek. I never use tips or wraps. That kills nmy nails.

I just took off my wraps about 2 months ago

My nails were PAPER THIN..

I have been using Sally Hansen "Get Growing" it's in an orange bottle.. It's a multi- vitamin solution- it's NOT a polish.

Basically I cut my nails down short.

Then I put this on 2-3 times a day- you put on and rub into nail & cuticle..

This is the first time I've used it and the results are really FANTASTIC.

Much better than the nailtiques I've used in the past.

i was going to say the same thing buy nail tek 1 and 2 it will help your nails.

I found this stuff called Dura Mel and it works awesome. It keeps your nails hard and the polish on for about a week, no kidding. The only thing is that it's so hard to find. I bought mine at a nail salon in Huntington for $12. I swear by this stuff !

I have always used Nailtek....but I'm assuming the same stuff is in there

I tried Knox gelatin. It's a powder you mix w/water or juice. I bought orange flavor (tastes like Tang, if anyone remembers that!!!) I boiled some water and added the Knox. (it disolves better) and added it to ice water. It really helped.

you can try eating alot of jello or soaking your nails in milk. My nails grew soo long and got so strong when I was taking pre-natal vitamins too.
