help! need recommendation for a structural engineer/architect with fireplace experience
just had a chimney company come in to inspect our fireplace and give us an estimate for any cleaning/repairs needed.
well, apparently, the fireplace (the part that its the house, not the chimney part that has its own foundation outside of the house) is not well-supported. they suggest getting an architect/contractor to come in to look at it. it looks like a structural/foundation issue
have no idea who to call, and the chimney rep didnt have anyone in mind either.
but basically, we should really do anything with the fireplace until this is looked at and fixed.
any recommendations? anyone have issues like this?
HELP!
(p.s., we just recently bought, so no idea what the previous owners did or didnt do...and YES the damn inspector should have pointed this out. but with the 290384029384 other things that he missed, he didnt. that is a whole 'nother story )

Re: help! need recommendation for a structural engineer/architect with fireplace experience
this is very common issue
it's usually solved with a strap from the chimney to the house
I wish I had a recommendation- but I would get a second opinion-
