Help, new homeowner question- Re: winterizing house

Ok so we have inground sprinklers which my old owners happen to put on in the spring for me bc they were visiting. When I emailed old owner about how to shut them off she gave me a whole list of things to do ( I can follow them all) but then she said

"The water line that runs under the family room and the sprinkler lines should be blown out with a compressor to prevent freezing of the pipe."

Yeah so I have no idea what that means, how to do it, or who I call to do it. Any ideas.

You need to call a sprinkler company. Where are you located? And/or ask your neighbors who they use to blowout their sprinklers.

Call an irrigation company to come do it. The prices starts around 50 dollars depending on the amount of zones you have.

Help, new homeowner question- Re: winterizing house

DH knows how to do the whole compressing thing but if he didn't, we'd just call a sprinkler company.

An air compressor. I think he got one from Sears. Honestly I'm not sure. He's pretty handy with these kinds of things and probably just watched a youtube video. I would have just paid the $50 or whatever to have someone do it for me lol.

Call a compnay.

They will close your sprinklers for $50 to $70. They do the blowing out of the lines.

You will also need to call them to open your sprinklers as well. This way if there are any broken heads, or leaks they will take care of it as well.
