Help! New Mom Here!!
So my DS eats pretty much ever 2-3 hours. Overnight, I have a tough time getting him back to sleep after a feeding. He is definitely in sleep mode after eating and a diaper change, but as soon as I put him down in the bassinet, he cries. Sometimes I hold him for awhile and he will fall asleep and I can put him down, but other times, it is extremely challenging. Any ideas or tips on making this work? He is only 3 weeks old, so I know it's rough to dictate things at this stage and I was told that you cannot spoil them this early.
Thanks....

Yep and I know he likes it, but it's just that initial putdown in the bassinet that he does not like. Every few times, he is fine, but others, it is not. After he was out of the swaddle, what did you use?

Maybe change his diaper then feed him? Or do not change his diaper at all - just pick him up still swaddled, feed him and put him back down? That is what worked for us.

Re: Help! New Mom Here!!
I swaddled till 6 months....almost....so you have time. I think its just a normal NB reaction here. sometimes they are vry picky about where tehy sleep. We had to try it all...cribs, two bouncers, bassinet, swing to find the right place...and some end up holding the baby.

I had thought about that, but wasn't sure if not changing his diaper for that long was good???

If he is just wet, it is fine. Just make sure to lube him up with A&D ointment. If he pooped then you should change him. DS never pooped at night for some reason.

sorry, I'm so clueless, what is A&D? I am familiar with desitin, vaseline and bacitracin LOL....
He mostly only wets at night, rarely more than that.
Thanks!!!

Re: Help! New Mom Here!!
DS was the same way at 3 weeks. Swaddling didn't work for us, nothing worked. it was hard but it does get easier! At about 6 weeks things got better. Hang in there!

Re: Help! New Mom Here!!
I stopped changing DD in the middle of the night because she was the same way (still is sometimes). I would pick her up still swaddled, feed her and put her back in.

Re: Help! New Mom Here!!
Thanks ladies. I think I might try not changing him, at least during one of the middle-of-the night feedings. At midnight, I can handle it, but when it's 3-4 am, I get a little frustrated when I cannot figure out how to get him back to sleep.

Re: Help! New Mom Here!!
Also at this age he might still be getting his bearings for day & night, so waking at any time might be confusing for him.
