Help, not sure what is going on??
ok here it goes, Madison is going to be 3 in about 4 weeks and the last 3-4 weeks she has been a totally different kid. She cries all day, is tired all the time, really does not laugh or smile at all and is just not happy.. I have nothing different going on at all. It is a fight with her to even put shoes on. When we go to the playground she won't even look at the other children and when they ask her to play she ignores them or hdes behinde me. Today we went to visit her cousin and she did not even want to play with her and 3 weeks ago she only wanted to play with her all the time... I am starting to get worried, My hubby thinks she is just shy but now she is starting to become obsessed with things.... I am a spec. Ed. teacher and I am thinking the worst bc i am in the field I guess, but any suggestions???? I am so heartbroken and confused....
TIA and thanks for any input!

Obviously without spending time with your DD I cannot get a clear picture, but it sounds like some anxiety or sensory issues.
Is she verbal? Has she gone through any recent changes?

Thank you for respsonding.....She is verbal and talks great, there is no changes whatsoever! I mean we moved back in late January and she was excited and loved every second of it and still loves her house and new big girl room that is the only difference... I am so lost.. I just went into her room and sat at her bed crying bc i am so lost.....

Re: Help, not sure what is going on??
3 year olds are schizo! Cailen is changing a lot too - I think it's part of the age. It's too late for developmental issues to start to manifest and too early for anything "psychiatric" to be going on.
I would just show her you support her and accept her even when she is acting shy and scared. If Cailen doesn;t want to play with someone I know he likes, or do something I know he likes to do, I tell him - then *I* am going to go do it! That usually gets him going a bit.

Re: Help, not sure what is going on??
Could she be coming down with something? Could it be allergy related? I know my DS acts completely different when allergy season hits. It could also be the age. DS has a mind of his own at 3 years old! His tantrums and ability to test limits have really hit an all time high. But we are also having a baby in a week and I'm sure this is affecting him as well.
It couldn't hurt to take her to your ped and make sure she's not sick. Just to rule it out. If she was always social, verbal, etc. I doubt she is truly regressing in any way. You mentioned a move - maybe there is some anxiety related to that? Are there any other major changes in your life right now that may be having an impact? Even a small change, like potty training or transition to a big girl bed could cause a change.
ETA: If you go to the ped, you may even want to have her tested for strep. There are some strains that cause behavioral changes (almost OCD-like) and she may not have typical signs like a sore throat, etc. Just another thought.
