Help our 10 month old has terrible diarrhea

Hi Ladies,

I'm at a loss!

Our DD just cut her first tooth! She's had TERRIBLE (I mean days of REALLY bad) diarrhea. She doesn't want to eat any of her baby food (she hasn't taken to like table foods yet). This morning she even threw up her bottle.

She has no fever.

My doctors response - well diarrhea that bad isn't normal for teething so maybe it's a virus.
My response - What should I do?
Doc - watch it to see if it gets better

UMMMM, okay! In the meantime, what is wrong with her

UGH!

Try giving her water or pedialyte
keep trying with the bottle so she gets some nutrients
see if she'll take banana jarred food
I think you should make an appt just in case.

Hope she feels better Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

IF you can get her to eat....bananas & the rice cereal should help bind her upChat Icon

And if she has no fever....I guess the ped is sort of right....not much you can do but watch & wait......

Keep her hydrated too.....doe she drink water yet? Also ask the ped if some Pedialyte is OK for her.....

Just had same issue with DD, and was at pefor my DS so I asked and she said as long as no fever and will eat something it is okay. She said do not follow BRAT(bananas, rice, and toast) diet, their bodies don't respond the same as toddler/adults. She recommended giving acidophilus, culterelle, or florastor to help regualre bacteria in instesines and keep hydrated - pedialyte/water and lots of fruit type itesm, banana, apples, etc.
I have to say I stop bushing the bindier (rice, toast, etc) and started the culturelle and fruit (she loves bananas) and it seem to work, after about 12 hours or so, diarrhea stopped. It may be just luck, but thought i would share.

Thanks for sharing!!! I'm going to call the doc tomorrow, it's been 5 days and she's thrown up from time to time also, so it's time to get some extra assist from the doc.
